Chronic exposure to air pollutants such as fine particulate matter ≤ 2.5 μm in diameter (PM2.5), particulate matter ≤ 10 μm in diameter (PM10), nitrogen dioxide (NO2), and nitrogen oxides (NOx) increased the risk for systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) onset. The risk was highest among those with high genetic risk and high air-pollution exposure.

Exposure to multiple air pollutants and genetic susceptibility to lupus increased the risk for systemic lupus erythematosus onset in European adults, a new study reported.

सी.पी.सी.बी. द्वारा 18 नवम्बर, 2009 को अधिसूचित वर्तमान राष्ट्रीय परिवेशी वायु गुणवत्ता मानकों में 12 प्रदूषक शामिल हैं - पीएम10, पीएम2.5, NO2, SO2, CO, O3, NH3, लेड (Pb), बेंजीन, बेंजोपाइरीन, आर्सेनिक और निकेल।



12 वायु प्रदूषकों में से 8 प्रदूषकों (PM10, PM2.5, NO2, SO2, CO, O3, NH3, और Pb) का उपयोग किसी क्षेत्र के वायु गुणवत्ता सूचकांक को निर्धारित करने के लिए किया जाता है।
