SPC upgrades Southwest Alabama to a “moderate risk” (level 4/5) this afternoon and early tonight… tornadoes, including the possibility of strong and long-track tornadoes, are the primary concern.

Severe storms are not expected over the northern half of Alabama with a cool stable airmass in place. However, a flash flood watch remains in effect for the northern 2/3 of Alabama through tonight.

Those in the broad area from Demopolis to Mobile need to be sure you can hear warnings as they are issued later today and early tonight.….

Probably going to be a long night for us on the North Central Gulf Coast. #Sally probably looks as good as it has ever looked right now. It is finally creeping north. There will be wobbles East or West so anyone from MS/AL line to basically Gulf Shores will be in play. The direction is North so it’s headed towards Mobile County. There is an expected turn to the North-North East. I may happen after landfall. So don’t lose focus. Slight strengthening not out of the question. Could get back to 95-100 but shouldn’t be more than that if it does. Pressures have dropped little by little all day but winds haven’t risen. The center of sally is continuing to try and build an eyewall. It just hasn’t been successful because of dry air on the south side. Hopefully that continues.
