Some words by Mobility about the mix:
Back in distant memories, what was first perceived as a forced layover now turned into a serious delay. With time to spare in the waiting area, Mobility’s VRG has turned again to his by now well-known recipe by offering another selection of some familiar and some less familiar dnb tracks from the 90’s. This time, the set mainly stays in the realm of “intelligent” dnb, with a splash of wild amens in the middle ending with a long trek through the stormfields (stay clear of the lightning!)…

This set contains a couple of absolute classics from the heyday of 90’s dnb, such as PFM’s Cruising Detroit, Red One’s Alive ‘n’ Kicking and Studio Pressure’s (a.k.a. Photek) Presha III. A more recent addition is the very lush Sunrise by Big Bud, which got released on OKBRON (the label famous for digging up previously unreleased goodies from back in the day), I really like the vibe of this one. I had also been looking for an opportunity to throw in Jazz Juice’s Detroit, a track I really love! And of course, it will be hard to ignore the epic closer Stormfields by the Invisible Man. I remember hearing this for the first time at a friend’s place back in ’98 after which I ran out and bought the vinyl myself. This tune is timeless (and dare I say “underrated”?), it’s epic in scope and really tells a story. Also, the intricate beatwork is second-to-none.

So I decided to start a deep house/techno sublabel of Scientific Records, called Deep Science Recordings (if you have tracks, send them over!) It's also the 3rd episode in my "Mixed Flavours" series, in which I (Mav) gernally play a mixture of all sorts of different drum and bass. From atmospheric drum and bass to liquid funk to neurofunk to minimal dnb to experimental drum&bass, all across the board really. This set was recorded on the 2nd of august 2010, during my 6-month stay in the centre of Budapest / Hungary. Big ups to the Hungarian dnb massive! 😀

What's up people! Ready for some Oldschool Atmospheric drum and Bass Mix?? Welcome back to another edition of Scientific Radio, already the 9th one. Mixed as usual by MAV, from Utrecht in The Netherlands. It also marks the first edition of a new series called "Oldschool atmospherics", in which I'm playing lots of oldschool atmospheric drum and bass. Most tunes were made and released around the end of the 90ies, which is one of my favorite era's in drum&bass. It's the time that I grew up in as a kid and went to my first parties, so I have very fond memories of this period. This mix includes some of my favorite tracks from that time. Dear boys & girls, here's a mixture of different drum and bass for you! Already the 8th edition of Scientific Radio and the 2nd edition of the "Mixed Flavours" series, in which I (Mav), play a mixture of various drum and bass, i.e. atmospheric dnb, neurofunk, minimal dnb, liquid dnb, experimental dnb, etc.

This set is a bit of a special one for me as it marks the beginning on an amazing time in my life. May 2010, when I moved to Budapest together with my friends Leon (Leon du Star) and Tim (Gloomy) and stayed in the heart of the city centre for 6 months. It was a rough period, going out 5 nights a week, but one of the best periods in my life so far! 😀
