The literary journal of Gordon State College. Blackshear is both the literary journal and the literary club of Gordon State College.

We provide an environment for creative writers and artists at Gordon to share their work and receive feedback. We bring visiting writers to campus, and take field trips to literary locations in our area. Our student-centered journal comes out once a year in the fall, and we publish poetry, short fiction, creative non-fiction, drama, art, and photography by the Gordon community. If you're intereste

d in writing or editing, or even if you're just interested in literature and the arts, we want to welcome you to our club!

General information

Anyone in the Gordon community may submit creative work for consideration. We need: short fiction (2000 words maximum); poetry (we prefer poems of a page or less); creative non-fiction (2000 words max.); drama (no more than six pages); photography & art Please follow these guidelines: -- E-mail your submissions to [email protected] -- Prose submissions should be double-spaced and sent as an attachment. -- Poetry submissions should be single-spaced and sent as attachments, one poem per attachment. -- Art and photography should be sent as .jpeg attachments. -- Indicate in your subject line the genre of your submission (fiction, art, etc.) -- Include your first and last name in the e-mail, and on your submission. Please also describe in the body of your e-mail how you are affiliated with Gordon. Deadline for fall semester submissions: November 1st. Deadline for spring semester submissions: March 1st. The student editorial board will respond to your submission by December 1st or April 1st.
