Did you know that some national parks offer temporary accessible parking placards for people who don't have a state issued placard?

They are typically issued only for parking at trailheads where the trail is reasonably accessible but the parking lot is not or is too far away.

There are many reasons for someone not to have their own parking placard - maybe their doctor won't sign for it, or they don't own a car or have a license, or they don't meet their state's qualifications for one - but that doesn't mean they aren't disabled. National Park trips also just require a lot of spoons, and sometimes that extra hike to the trailhead is a deal breaker.

Check the park's accessibility web page to see if they offer one. You can also ask at the entrance station but generally have to get the pass from a visitor center. No documentation required!
