Penultimate show on Fylde Coast Radio going live in about half an hour on fyldecoastradio.org
Anyone who was listening to last night’s show will have heard my announcement next last week will be my last on Fylde Coast Radio.
I’ve enjoyed four years at the station, presenting over 200 shows and playing somewhere in the region of 4000 different tracks. I’ve been lucky to be working for a station that has such a liberal approach to music that has allowed me to explore different styles of music and delve deep beyond the mainstream sounds you hear on most radio stations.
I’ve prided myself on doing something different and playing music I couldn’t imagine hearing on any other radio station. Unfortunately over the last few months I’ve increasingly found that it’s no longer different for me and that I’ve been losing the excitement that I used to have when I played something i don’t think the listeners will expect. It’s a full time job on top of a full time job and I need a bit of time to recuperate and fall back in love with music as someone who listens to it for fun rather than for research.
I’d like to thank Sean & Hywel for their understanding in me making this decision. They’ve made a lot of changes to FCR since they took over the reins and I’m very confident they will make a huge success of it. I’d also like to thank Anton & Don for giving me the opportunity in the first place, Vanessa Ramsden for putting my name forward, James Ward for all the chin wags as we switched over, all the other presenters who’ve given me support & advice over the years and, of course, the listeners who make all of this possible.
I’m not saying that this is the end of the road for me and FCR, I may be back in the not too distant future, but right now I need a bit of time to get my head and my heart in the right place to be the presenter that the station and the listeners deserve.
My final three shows will be 5-7pm Thursday 27th April, 7-9pm Monday 1st May and 5-7pm Thursday 4th May.
