New severe thunderstorm warning until 2:45 for Warren and Saratoga Counties. Primary threats are 60 MPH winds and quarter sized hail, however some weak rotation has been noted in the storm.

Storms are starting to fire up around the area. The Storm Prediction Center has placed the Mohawk Valley, Lake George-Saratoga Region, Western Adirondacks and Eastern Catskills in a Severe Thunderstorm Watch until 7 PM. Damaging winds and large hail will be the primary threats, however an isolated tornado cannot be ruled out

The first watch of the day is likely to come in the next few hours for the areas shaded in blue. The Storm Prediction Center is closely monitoring an area of thunderstorms over Southern Ontario that will likely impact Western and Central New York later this afternoon. The main threat associated with these storms appears to be damaging winds.

Thunderstorms are moving into the area ahead of a larger severe weather outbreak tomorrow

Tomorrow looks to be our first severe weather outbreak of the season, as the Storm Prediction Center has placed the area in an "Enhanced Risk" Category for severe weather. The greatest threat from severe storms appears to be high winds, however isolated large hail and even a tornado may be possible. Storms will start to form in the mid afternoon hours over the central Mohawk Valley and move into our area. The best timing for storms right now appears to be between 5 and 7 PM tomorrow. We will have a full briefing on the situation later today.

Some showers popping up in the northern portions of the area. Storms will become more common over the next 24 hours ahead of a low pressure system. The best chance for showers and thunderstorms will be late in the weekend into the beginning of the work week.
