A returning TV Show seeks both current and former Medical Staff, Hospital Support Workers and former patients to share their ghost stories and paranormal experiences in connection to a hospital and medical facility such as clinics, long term care. The hospital or care facility will not be identified.

We are interested in hearing stories from nurses, doctors, technicians, orderlies, custodians, EMTs, therapists, healthcare support workers and patients. Witnesses will be invited for an on-camera interview to retell their story. Only first person accounts please.

Were you separated from your loved ones for the holidays last year because of Covid 19? Have you yet to see them in 2021?

A web documentary is seeking families, groups or individuals who wished they could see their loved ones for the Holidays in 2020, but the restrictions made it impossible.

Selected families/households will be compensated $1000 for their story.
Part of the filming may take place out of Canada, therefore all participants MUST BE fully vaccinated against COVID and will need to present proof of this before the filming. (Everyone except for children under the age of 12).

All contributors must also have valid passports. This is a non union project.

SCAMS - WHAT TO WATCH OUT FOR

Hello lovely people. I've been seeing several posts across a few FB groups about scams happening in the Toronto area. I wanted to take some time to give some hints and tips to spot scams when you are self submitting. Of course, the best way to avoid scams is to only have your agent submit you for work who can vet the job. If you are unrepresented, here are red flags to keep an eye out for.

Pre-payment. This never actually happens in the industry. Why would anyone pay you before the shoot day? What if you don't show up? Any post or email that says they are sending you payment before you shoot, is a scam.

No Casting Director. Who is the casting director? Are they on the Casting Directors Society of Canada page? It takes a second to look if anyone of us are actually casting the project: https://www.castingsociety.ca/ You can always contact our offices vie email to confirm the open call is actually ours.

If they claim to be an ACTRA production, ACTRA will have a list of what is currently shooting. There MAY gaps with productions that are in development still, but these cases will not be doing open calls and be reaching out to top tier talent's representation directly.

Most Casting Directors who do open calls (very few do), will have their own socials: Mann, Milo, Powerhouse, The Casting Group, Jigsaw, The Brunch Store, Larissa Mair, Ashley Hallihan, etc. If it's not coming from an established Casting Company's social, look up who is doing it.

Swimwear/Lingerie. Always be extra cautious for these casting calls. If there is little information with these calls, take precaution.

ACTRA forces production to put money into a trust, in case production goes under. This protects talent that have worked thus far to have some guarantee of getting paid. This does not exist with Non Union Productions. Always handle Non Union with some extra care, especially without an established CD attached.

If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is

Keep in mind that the vast vast vast majority of casting calls go to agents only. This is the best way to secure it is legit production, as Casting will vet the production companies, and the agents know who the established Casting Directors are.

Producers contacting you directly is not common practice if they have not worked with you before. ALWAYS ask who the casting director is if a Producer is reaching out to you directly and you've never worked together before. It can be as easy as "Thank you for reaching out for this opportunity. Can you please send me the Casting Director's information to forward my information to?"
Trust your gut, ask your agent, be careful and don't get scammed!

A filmed comedy show Roast Battle Canada is looking for ACTRA members to be in the audience in the Burlington area. We are open to audiences in the Toronto area and will be organizing a shuttle from Kipling subway Station.
