UPDATE: Roanoke Police have identified the suspect as Edward L. Denoyer, 25 of Roanoke. Denoyer has active warrants for Second Degree Murder regarding this homicide investigation. Additional charges are pending.

We are seeking the public’s assistance in locating Denoyer. If anyone sees him or knows where he is, please encourage them to call 911 and share what they know. Please do not approach Denoyer – he is considered armed and dangerous.

PRESS RELEASE: On September 17, 2023 at approximately 10:45 p.m., Roanoke Police were notified by the City of Roanoke E-911 Center of a person with a gunshot wound in the 1200 block of Melrose Avenue NW. While en route, officers were advised that there were multiple victims. Responding officers located an adult female victim lying outside the residence with what appeared to be a critical gunshot wound. They also located an adult male victim inside a vehicle parked at the residence with what appeared to be a critical gunshot wound. Both the man and woman were pronounced deceased on scene by Roanoke Fire-EMS personnel.

Additional officers were called to the intersection of 10th Street and Salem Avenue SW for a report of a person with a gunshot wound inside a vehicle. Officers responded and located an adult male victim with what appeared to be serious, but non-life-threatening injuries. Officers rendered aid until Roanoke Fire-EMS arrived and transported the man to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.

Preliminary investigation indicates that all three victims were injured at the residence on Melrose Avenue NW. Officers have determined that there was a gathering at the house, and at some point several individuals became involved in a verbal altercation that escalated to a shooting. No suspects were located on scene and no arrests have been made at this time. This remains an ongoing homicide investigation.

MISSING JUVENILE

Karley Robinson, age 13, was last seen on July 7 at 6:20 p.m. on Aragona Drive in Vinton. Karley is 5’3” tall and weighs 110 pounds. She was last seen wearing black shorts, a black sweatshirt, and a silver necklace that says “Lil Sis”.

Please contact the Vinton Police Department at 540-562-3265 if you can provide any details regarding Ms. Robinson’s whereabouts.

Aliyah Turner, age 13, was last seen on July 3 in the 1500 block of Wyndham Drive around 11 p.m. after returning home from the Salem Fair with her mother. Aliyah is 5'5" tall, weighs 130 pounds, and has brown eyes and black hair. She was last seen wearing a brown tank top, black shorts, white Nike's with cheetah print, silver herringbone chain necklace, gold hoop earrings, and a diamond stud nose ring (pictured below).

She was last seen wearing a long-sleeved white shirt and black pants. Shirley’s family says she has dementia and other medical issues — due to this, we’d like to get her home to her loved ones as soon as possible. BARRICADED SUBJECT

Roanoke Police are at the scene of a barricaded subject inside a residence in the 3200 block of Avenham Ave SW. There is a heavy police presence in the area and we will be there for some time. Please avoid travel in the area pictured below while our officers work to take this subject into custody. This post will be updated when this situation is resolved.

FREE VIN etching for your car this Saturday! 🚘

The Roanoke City Sheriff’s Office in conjunction with the Virginia State Police will be hosting a free HEAT VIN etching event along with car seat safety checks on Saturday, April 15, 2023. The event will be held in the parking lot of Target, located at 4737 Valley View Blvd NW Roanoke, VA from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM.
For those that are not familiar, HEAT an acronym for Help Eliminate Auto Theft program educates citizens on how to prevent the theft of vehicles. VIN etching is one way to deter thieves and it provides an additional safety measure for vehicle owners.
