***** - I have not started to read this fully but what I have read this is brillant.

***** - Brilliant Book. Not my usual genre at all but was gifted a copy by the author through voracious readers. I was quite anxious about reading it in case I had to give a bad review! However I was gripped from the first page and I couldn’t put it down. Such an awesome description of life in space and other worlds, the description of an alternative universe is so interesting and so believable.It’s a crime novel but set in space , with detectives chasing a serial killer Who is always one step ahead.
I highly recommend this and will certainly be reading Chris‘s other books.

A cocktail of Sci-fi, Thriller and Paranormal genres, The Daemon’s Wish by Chris Wright is a fascinating murder mystery. The story is set in the year 2410. By this year, humans have habited Mars and Europa as well. The peaceful life of Europa is shattered when a killer goes on a murderous streak. Each gruesome murder is a scene from hell, with the victim’s organs splashed in the stream of their own blood. Detective Johnson and Detective Thomas seek the help of a psychological profiler, Noah Peterson, who had proved instrumental in throwing several criminals behind the bars. Solving these murders, however, will not prove to be an easy feat as the crime scenes do not have any DNA other than that of the victims. As bodies begin piling up, the race to catch the killer, who leaves no human trace, ensures many several nights and quick thinking. At this crucial time, Noah has his own demons to face. His health conditions — migraine and epilepsy — have deteriorated overnight. But, the seizures are the least of his worries; he is having serious memory gaps that seem to coincide with the time of the murder. Moreover, his appearance at every sight of the murder makes him a suspect too.
The beauty of The Daemon’s Wish lies in its setting and mystery. Chris Wright, the author, has put his heart, soul, and sweat into the book. He has considered aspects about Europa, Jupiter’s moon, and figured out a way to allow the audience to imagine the lifestyle of humans on Europa. With the year being 2410, it is natural to introduce advanced technology. So, the readers find the characters using holographic notepads, hovering cars, rain shields, Ionocopter, hyper train, etc. Yet, the bit about Europans taking trips to and from Earth permitted the inclusion of Earthly things in the story. This fusion of old with the new created an immersive read. In short, the scene-setting has a transporting quality to it that takes its readers on one hell of a ride.
The characters of The Daemon’s Wish are diverse in their behavior and psychology. While Detective Thomas appeared an impulsive and egoistic person, Detective Johnson showed real potential with her rational thinking and intelligent arguments. In Noah, we found a tormented genius; whereas, in Tess, we could see a caring and vulnerable woman who wanted to take care of her boyfriend, Noah. Then, there was the killer, a violent man who also loved playing psychological games with his victims. By crafting a plot designed to capture the readers, Chris Wright has birthed a truly gripping page-turner. The Daemon’s Wish by Chris Wright is a sci-fi/thriller treat for the readers who like a paranormal and psychological twist to their murder mysteries.

"A mashup of sci-fi and suspense!

Wright pens a unique Sci-fi story in The Daemon's Wish. I have read work from this author before, and I really enjoyed it. It's 2410, and there is something peaceful within the colonies, but in that year, there are still police and serial killers. I liked this story, as it brings a crash to utopia, and shows that even in the future, we still have our share of sociopaths and psychopaths. It was a grand story, and not knowing much about the future, and only having to rely on reruns of Star Trek TNG, I found that the characters seemed to fit within their environments on their planets and even the moons. This author has a great imagination and I'm glad it's being shared with stories. The story brings in the believable, even if almost impossible. It's literally out of this world! It's both futuristic and suspenseful. The Daemon's Wish is a definite recommendation by Amy's Bookshelf Reviews. I look forward to reading many more stories by this author"

"Taking a different perspective to his previous offerings, Wright takes us on a journey set far into the future and incorporates both the sci-fi and mystery and suspense genres. The book has the feel of both the original Blade Runner and Minority Report movies, with some extremely original twists which succeed in taking the reader on a breakneck, page turning mission.
Without giving away the plot, this work of art keeps the reader guessing the whole way and only begins to reveals it's secrets very close to the end. The ending is also extremely unexpected, which I loved!!
Wright is a master craftsman in the making, his first few novels were great, but this is on a whole new level. I am looking forward to the next offering, I am sure that I won't be disappointed"

Like the other two books in this rollercoaster-ride series, I Am Auton is extremely detailed but easy to read. Combining an immersive atmosphere, cinematic viewpoints, and intriguing set pieces, this novel serves up a hefty portion of character development - characters that do things, not ones who sit around waiting for things to happen. They make things happen. Make decisions. The horror elements are surreal and vivid and fling the reader far into the past and future. - Mingling unique settings and world-building and a large cast while blending multiple genres, makes for an entertaining and memorable read. The storytelling is solid and functional, with gigantic tableaux serving as center stage for the large-scale conflicts converging. The action keeps the tone riveting, with thriller-level prose rhythm and well-calibrated pacing. Everything is easy to visualize, aided by the helpful chapter headings, which ground the tale in shifting context.

Get ready for much social commentary about the fate of humanity and our checkered history which we carry around along with our intimate burdens. The narration is layered with a sense of doom, plentiful paranormal encounters, otherworldly conflicts, and the consistent dread of the enigmatic realms beyond the everyday.

"In this second installment in the series, the pace ratchets up quickly. We join characters familiar from the first book (but I think this book can even be appreciated on its own, without some of the backstory). It is a good example of descriptions of cosmic proportions, and how paranormal events infringe on the lives of relatable characters. Each of them is part of a set of rich, well-rounded individuals, whom the author established through reliably good dialogue. They are pursued by supernatural vortices, giving the reader a very cinematic view of large-scale urban destruction.

The disintegration, the threat of annihilation, serves as a backdrop to human drama, all of which sustains a high pulse throughout the book. A dark fate for mankind lies in wait at the edge of our perception, as in the best science fiction, shedding light on our inner flaws.

This is a nanobot apocalyptic vision of the future, with an action-film tempo, radiating a white heat that will have you sweating over the pages. The persistence of haunting dreams plagues our protagonists. Our imaginations are powerful tools and our sentience can often be taken for prophesy. We rely on other human beings for validation of our worldview, but we are fundamentally self-serving. This give and takes adds even more tension to an already tense reading experience.

By alternating perspectives, the author gives a feel for a variety of well-crafted, believable characters. He delights in describing intricate set pieces, utilizing sweeping grand symphonies of molten metal and tidal waves of melting cars to set the stage, creating a constant scrambling toward purchase in a shifting landscape of demolishment, balanced upon a precipice of fear. A page-turner in the most primal sense, something to keep you up at night with its suggestions of immanent collapse of our unstable universe. - How reality may very well be a facade, a thin curtain dangling between the world we know and an untenable void. That is the cosmic horror immediately visible in this fictional version of our world. We are caught up in a pursuit against uncontrollable forces, a hive of our worst fears, a predator beyond imagining. Following interdimensional twists, with unexpected consequences, the telepathic link between an entity which challenges our perceptions intrudes upon the fate of the Everyman of the story, adding layers of techie futurism.

The book operates with logic and sciency, savvy depictions of disturbing realities fraught with a nonstop mingling of dreamlike imagery. It is a frantic tunneling through cause and effect, searching for answers amid the havoc of chaos, complicated by our own messy existences.
