We're rather excited about this one. On Friday 11th October The Young'uns telling of the extraordinary true story of Johnny Longstaff comes to Kings Place, London. Make your life a better place and come along. Nearfield Artists BMG | UK

The Ballad of Johnny Longstaff, presented by folk trio The Young’Uns, is the true story of one man's journey from unemployment, through the Hunger Marches of the 1930s, the mass trespass movement and the Battle of Cable Street, to fighting fascism in the Spanish Civil War. A touching and often hil...

Folks, this is the heart of the matter that is Irish music. Lúnasa's Cillian Vallely with David Doocey. With thanks to Siobhan Long and the The Irish Times.

Drawing deeply from the well in this new collection, the duo make some stellar tune choices, and contribute no fewer than six of their own compositions

One week to go until the Northern Ireland Music Prize. The glorious 'Hinterland' from Jealous of the Birds produced by Declan Legge on Canvasback Music Parlophone Atlantic Records gets our (slightly biased 😉) vote.

Shortlisted Album: Hinterland - Jealous of the Birds 🎵

''The third album by Jealous of the Birds is lit up by the greatest sensations. It might be the quality of the night sky over East Antrim, or the notion that the fresh acorn holds a universe in its core. Naomi Hamilton steers away from the cynical drift and looks to the poet Walt Whitman for a sweeter direction home. This is how Naomi’s third album wins, with folk accents, dance grooves and cool wind in the sails.'' - Stuart Bailie

Join us on 15th November at Ulster Hall to see who will win the prestigious Album of the Year 2023 🏆

One of the most prolific and important Blues artists of our time, Eric Bibb, is being considered for Best Traditional Blues Album and Best American Roots Performance on new album Ridin'.

Grammy recording academy voting members, your support is appreciated.

Honored that my album Ridin’ is being considered for the Grammy’s Best Traditional Blues Album, and the album’s title track for Best American Roots Performance. To any recording academy voting members out there, your support is greatly appreciated. Nominees announced on November 10th.

The album and title track are inspired by the brave Freedom Riders who travelled from northern cities to the Deep South, risking their lives, helping African American citizens register to vote. Another source of inspiration was a painting from 1862, ‘A Ride For Liberty’ by Eastman Johnson, depicting an African American family escaping slavery on horseback.

We’re still ridin’…

Eric

Out now on YouTube! Episode 1 of a brand new interview series with the legendary, yet illusive, man behind The RAH Band, Richard Anthony Hewson.

Richard turns 80 years old this year and is still making music every day. Following a strict regime, he heads to his home studio every morning where he still uses the same analog synths, drum machines and effects from his 80s era.

His incredible story has never been told in full, until now... This YouTube interview series reveals the tales of one of the UK’s most endearing and prolific composers, and possibly the most unlikely global viral sensation of recent years.

'Sink' is the second single of 2023 from singer-songwriter Maz O'Connor.

It tells the story of the breakdown of a romantic relationship told over three summers. The poetic, melancholic lyrics explore co-dependency through the metaphor of 'sinking'.

𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘸𝘦 𝘣𝘰𝘵𝘩 𝘬𝘯𝘰𝘸 𝘪𝘵

𝘸𝘦 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘥𝘰 𝘪𝘵 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘴𝘦𝘭𝘷𝘦𝘴 𝘴𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘦

Written in the Lake District and recorded with in North London earlier this year, the song combines classic folk and contemporary production. Folk influences like Joni Mitchell's open guitar tunings and the lo-fi style of Bon Iver's 'For Emma, Forever Ago' meet tasteful, atmospheric electronics.
