I have found in classical/art music an exciting dimension, a world of limitless possibility for storytelling, expression and creativity. I've decided to make this video series because there are so many who I know will love it too, but at the moment it's very hard to find a good place to start! I didn't grow up with this music, and in my music studies I went in quite the opposite direction. It was
through a growing love of film music that I decided to look further into the music which had inspired the great film composers. When I finally did look into the classical world I was first a little perplexed, until I figured out how my listening and approach to this music first had to change. That was quite a process, but I became convinced that it could be communicated very simply. The more I dived into the art music world, the more I realised just how much there was to offer people from all different backgrounds, there was something for everyone. It became more and more frustrating that I wasn't able to chat to many of the people around me about the music I was getting into, because there wasn't yet an easy way for them to experience it in an accessible way. So, Music for the Imagination was born. I hope that this ongoing series will help new listeners to come to love and be excited by this music, and find stuff that they can really get into. Over time I'll be taking this in all sorts of directions, including focusing more on the composers working today, and I hope that you can join me for the journey...
