"A great upcoming psy producer!"
— Simon Patterson (BBC Radio 1, UK)

"Daniel Lesden is one to watch closely. Daniel’s debut release on Ovnimoon Records, Contact, immediately caught my ear, and stood out as a solid, quality track. As kind as he is talented, Daniel is a great example of a success in the making. I’ll be keeping an eye on Daniel as I look forward to hearing what he will do next."

Magnus (Perfecto Fluoro / JOOF Recordings, USA)

"Daniel Lesden is an excellent Dj and a very talented producer, whose tracks are an interesting mixture of both the new modern psytrance productions, with an oldschool twist and melodic lines that I still very much like and enjoy. I would definitely recommend everyone to keep their attention on his work. Support!"
— Sideform / Relativ (TesseracTstudio Records, Serbia)

In case you missed it, my recorded live set from last month’s Dancelovehub is now up on SoundCloud, featuring plenty of JOOF sound and deep trance classics. I don’t play this style as often these days, but I thoroughly enjoyed revisiting it and sharing that energy with everyone on the dancefloor ❤️

Big thanks to Robert Stainforth for the lovely photos!

Enjoy the set:

Rave Podcast 155

After months of quite intense episodes, this time we're diving into a deeper, darker, and more laid-back progressive and techno sound that really locks into the groove (with a few unexpected twists, of course). Enjoy!

This month, we have an outstanding showcase of the 'Raw Trance' sound, featuring music from some of my current favourite producers like Mikkel Rev, Asca, Omformer, Oprofessionell, Whirloop, Sioc, Alan Backdrop, Lucinee, and more. I'm delighted to see the rise of this raw, deep, and hypnotic sound, which truly represents the essence of underground trance right now.

Rave Podcast 152

In this episode, we shift gears towards the trancey soundscapes I promised last time. Trance is one of the most diverse music genres, spanning many different sub-genres and styles. Today, I'd like to highlight a specific, emerging sound that is fast-paced, heads-down, and sits somewhere between early 90s trance and the psychedelic scene. We call it Raw Trance, and this is where the most forward-thinking and underground trance currently is, in my opinion. Enjoy!

Rave Podcast 151

Continuing with the theme of the previous episodes, this edition of Rave Podcast is all about the exploration of techno soundscapes. The first half features a deep and hypnotic trancey sound, while the second half showcases some serious, pounding grooves. I absolutely love this sound at the moment, and I hope you are too! If you're a trance-head, no worries, a trance-focused episode will be coming soon too.

After a short delay, Rave Podcast is back for you to enjoy.

This episode is all about proper Techno: groovy, slamming, heads-down, and sometimes melodic too. I just love listening to this kind of stuff when I’m walking, running or in the gym, so any kind of sports body activity, and of course in the clubs too (though I guess dancing can be put in the same category, haha).

I feel that nowadays many people use the word ‘techno’ to describe something entirely different, sometimes they call progressive house tunes ‘techno’, sometimes trance tracks are mislabeled as ‘techno’, and there is, of course, a whole ‘melodic techno’ thing which rarely does anything to do with techno. So enjoy this proper, real Techno mix (with a couple of trancey tracks).

A quick note for those who subscribed to the podcast on Apple Podcasts or any other podcast app: I’ve moved the podcast to another podcast-hosting service. Hopefully, you won’t notice it as this is something ‘under the hood’, but if anything is wrong, just let me know. As a cool little bonus, new episodes now have chapters (in those podcast apps that support it), allowing you to navigate through the tracklist.

Some interesting backstory. In 2021, Enlusion and I collaborated to create 'Dark Entity'. While the original mix was a heavy-hitting dancefloor banger, I also wanted to have a more stripped-down version and that is how we made the 'Heads-down Mix'.

Fast-forward to 2024, upon relistening to those versions I realised that I want something even more heads-down, more... hypnotic. So I sent a message to Kirill, and our dialogue went something like that:

me: Let's get rid of those acids, BXR-style snares and other extra sounds?
Kirill: Hmm okay. But we're going to add new melodies and a new bassline then, right?... Right?
me: 😎

So there you go guys, Dark Entity (Hypnotic Mix) is out now, and Kirill is probably still mad that we didn't add five more layers of extra melodies 🤣

One of the secret weapons from my DJ sets and radio shows, a collaboration from Enlusion and Slavlotski Music, is finally revealed and out now on JOOF Recordings. The second track titled "Inferno" is my fav, although the whole package is very strong.

Definitely don't miss this one:

As I recently promised to deliver more music to you, here is my set recorded at Amplify Events pres JOOF Editions in Bristol last month.

You probably know me for more peak-time and intense sets, but this time I had an important duty for preparing the dancefloor for John 00 Fleming, so I stayed at a lower tempo to save the crowd's energy for the headliner. I must mention that Keros from the Amplify Events did an excellent job opening the night, so you know when the energy level is set right, even the lower tempo sounds banging.

My personal favourite part of this set is the transition at around 1h17m mark, pure bliss (I remember one person jumped into the DJ booth after that moment and said it was the best moment he had ever experienced on the dancefloor, kudos to that guy!).

Anyway, I hope you enjoy my warm set:
