On Monday’s show, we introduced you to Clyde “Stevie” Stevenson and learned about his selfless effort to haul truckloads of hay to farmers affected by catastrophic floods in North Carolina. He’s made at least 15 trips with more planned in the future. If you would like to help him with donations of hay or funds to offset the expenses, you can reach out to him via email: stevensonota@comcast. net

Updated snowfall totals for some spots!

Morning everyone! Chief Meteorologist Mike Lichniak here with my latest snowfall forecast map for this storm. I have trended our snow totals up for some and left them the same for others. The trend in the models is starting to make be believe that this storm should behave like the storm we had in January. The only real difference is the little bit of warmer air that will get pulled across southern Delmarva to keep snowfall totals a bit lower there.

The snow will start to fly across Delmarva by the late morning or early afternoon hours of Tuesday. As the moisture overspreads the area and the low begins to develop just to our south, the intensity of the snow will start to pick up into the later afternoon and evening hours. We are looking for a band of snow to set up across northern and central Delmarva where we are looking at possible snowfall rates over 1-2” per hour for several hours into the evening hours. With our heaviest snow falling in the evening and early in the overnight, we will see a significant snow storm across a good part of Delmarva where the majority of us will see somewhere between 4-8” of snow with some locally heavier amounts possible. The farther south you go of Salisbury will need to watch for the mix in sleet or rain with this system as some warmer air will get pulled into this part of the region and will limit snowfall totals across the southern 3rd. The farther north you go across Delmarva will see limiting snow totals because the moisture will not reach too far north past Dover. So, as you move north of Dover…the cut off of snow will start to become drastic as well. The storm will taper off into Wednesday morning providing a break for Wednesday from precipitation.

Again, if we have to fine tune the forecast...we will be here and I will be doing a Facebook Live at some point this morning.

❄️❄️Snow lovers unite❄️❄️ Here we go again!

Hi there everyone! Chief Meteorologist Mike Lichniak here on a Sunday afternoon before The Big Game. I am not doing weather this evening. I just wanted to give you all my first official map and forecast for the snow on the way for Tuesday into Wednesday.

The bullseye looks to be northern and parts of central Delmarva where we can get anywhere between 4 to as much as 8 inches of snow...maybe even a tiny bit more if the deformation zone (area of heaviest band of snow) will not mix with the warmer air and just stays all snow for this system.

As you move farther south across central and southern Delmarva...my snow totals for now come down due to all the sleet and rain we could see mix in with this storm as the warmer air does look to push into the region with this low being a little farther north compared to our last big storm a month ago.

As you move farther south...less likely we will see snow stick around for long as we do expect that transition over the rain happen and stay rain for most of the storm.

Across far northern Delmarva (out of the WBOC viewing area) I am looking a lower snow accumulation at the moment just because the moisture feed does not look to move that far north. Keeping totals for those friends at the moment on the lower side of things...but only a little lower since this will be an all snow event the farther north you get.

Timing for this event looks to be from Tuesday afternoon into Tuesday night and tapering off into Wednesday morning.

Remember, this is only the first forecast and there will be a few tweaks of this storm as we get closer and closer to the start of this event on Tuesday. I will have more updates and probably our favorite Facebook Lives on the WBOC TV 16 Delmarva's News Leader page on Monday morning.

Also, all this snow that falls should be gone by Wednesday or Thursday with temperatures soaring into the 50s on Thursday with heavy rain on the way to the area! :)
