This episode is one of the first 5 or 6 episodes we ever recorded, all of them unreleased (I think ha), although we did redo the Metallica one and released it for our debut.

It’s a bit rough, and you’ll notice the format had not quite been figured out yet…but this is how things all got started, and we figured it would be nice to share.

TML - HALL OF FAME

Born of Osiris - The Discovery (2011)
-
When this album was shown to me, it was described in one word that has stayed with me this entire time…”clever”.
-
Lee McKinney is outstanding, and Jason Richardson really added a different element when he joined. It’s a combination that I wish would’ve lasted longer.
-
While I don’t necessarily consider it a Djent album, it really opened the floodgates (for so many) to the phenomena, that has seemingly permeated so many sub genres of Metal - it was easier for “regular” Metal listeners to grasp than something like Meshuggah.
-
The epic sweeps in “Follow The Signs”, that had every guitarist playing Madison Square Bedroom uploading to YouTube - the ultra-catchy “Singularity”- that undeniable bounce of “Ascension” - “Recreate” showing off some of the most “clever” licks I’d ever heard - a couple cool zen-like interludes in “A Solution” and “The Omniscient” really brought the Cameron Gray album art to life - “Regenerate” reveals a slight clean vocal element…very slight, but perfectly placed.

Overall, just one of my favorite albums of all-time and absolutely deserving of an Album Hall Of Fame spot.
