The Process
Consultation
The first step is an in-depth and in-person meeting where we get to know you and your type. We will figure out the best way to highlight your strengths as an actor and the best way to showcase what you have to offer in order for you to book work in the future. The meeting is completely complimentary and at the end if you wish to proceed with us, we will then ask for a 50%
deposit that goes towards the cost of any reel and/or headshot package. Pre Production
Once you have paid the deposit, we can set the dates for the shoot. We usually plan on a half a day per scene in order to maximize the amount of time we have on set in order for everyone involved to achieve their best work. Once we have those dates confirmed, we will get started on writing your material. Or if you prefer, prep a scene you have already written or found. In addition we will find actors that best fit the scene (or again you may of course supply some or all of the actors if you prefer). And finally, we will confirm all equipment rentals and locations for your shoot which are all included in the base price of your reel. The Shoot
Semaphore will take care of all basic production needs. Lights, sound, and it will be shot on a very high quality HD camera: a Canon 5D Mark II with prime lenses you so get the highest quality HD image and a very strong cinematic look. Any extra equipment we do not possess for a specific shoot, will be rented at no extra charge to you. We will supply a full crew and director, and customize the shoot to how you like to work. We never rush our actors and like to take as many takes as possible so that we have plenty of footage to choose from. That is why we like to plan on half-day shoots per scene; as we will not stop until we get the shot perfect and you are happy with your work. Post Production
Your raw footage will be transformed into a professionally edited scene by our in house editor. From there we offer two full edits of the scene plus a final cut so that you can get the scene you want. Once we have finished the final, within five business days we will give you the full scene (s) along with a sizzle reel of all scenes together. Headshots
Our in-house photographer and director of photography, Laura Nunez, takes great actor headshots. Where many photographers focus on simply the full size photo, Laura understands the importance of the thumbnail and getting the most out of a photo shoot. Because of her many years of experience, Laura understands the preparation and anticipation that goes into a headshot session. She cares deeply that her clients are comfortable and that they receive photos that further their careers. If you choose to purchase both a reel and headshot package, we always insist you shoot your photos on a different day than the shoot date of your reel. We always include two free retouchings in our headshot package, with a slight fee for any other photos needing retouching. Questions
