One week from tonight, on Wednesday, October 23 from 7-10pm at the Neptune Room (Georgia and Jefferson NW) we welcome Tim Holehouse all the way from London back to DC, one year to the day after he last enthralled the DMV with his visceral energized performance. Just as it was last year, Sad Veiled Bride, Condition Oakland, and Broommaker offer this-side-of-the-ocean support. These will be quick-paced sets with little in-between time. If you blink, you might miss something. We hope to see you.

In exactly one month, Teething Veils will step into to record one-of-a-kind records for anyone who orders one. Leesta Vall’s mid-20th-century lathe cuts one vinyl record at a time, which they’ll record live as the machine runs. Only one copy of each recording will ever exist (the band won’t even have any copies). This is your chance to have a totally unique Teething Veils record. There are eight songs you can pick from. You can order a record (or more) through the link in the comments.

We’re thrilled to share with you that on May 11, Teething Veils will be heading up to the studio in Brooklyn, New York to record one-of-a-kind direct-to-vinyl records.

You can order one at the link in profile.

You can order as many individual records as you’d like. Teething Veils will record each record, one by one, directly to Leesta Vall’s 1950s-era lathe. No two records will be the same, and only one copy of each will ever be made. They’ll record a one-of-a-kind performance, specifically for you. They hope to make a record (or two, or more) for you in May.

The first Teething Veils show of the year is coming up on Saturday, January 13 at Rhizome DC, with none other than Takoma’s own Annette Wasilik Music, making her Rhizome debut. To make an already special bill even more memorable, we’ll be welcoming JOBIE (Josie Arthur), all the way from Boston. I played with her in Worcester in June, and her performance was one of the highlights of the tour. Details and tickets are at the link in the comments. See you there!

On this day in 2008, Girl Loves Distortion (Jenn Fox-Thomas, Christopher Goett, Steven Rubin) released Earth Beings on Exhibit. It was the first release for Etxe Records, founded by the band. Here are some images from the rehearsals and recordings for the album, recorded by Hugh McElroy at the original Swim Two Birds location in Mt Pleasant, DC. Fifteen years and thirty releases later, we look back on the beginnings of Etxe as we ready the upcoming release from Highlands, Astronaut Island.

Today (Monday), songwriting and underground folk legend Kath Bloom is making a rare DC-area appearance at Red Onion Records (4208 Gallatin Street) in Hyattsville. The Teething Veils vinyl release show for the new album To Have and to Hold, with special guest Annette Wasilik, is on for Saturday, March 4 at 7pm at the Shipyard in Silver Spring, MD. Space is limited, so reserve your space and note the address via the Eventbrite link in the event page. $10 donation benefits Abodes Joy, a local Maryland nonprofit helping women and families address housing needs and maintain safe and welcoming living spaces that promote comfort, a sense of well-being, and sustainability. Please note this is an outdoor event. Should we need to move inside due to weather, all guests will be asked to wear a mask. We're looking forward to playing and hearing music.

I'm sorry to say that I took a Covid test (or, rather, three Covid tests) yesterday (Wednesday, February 1) that came back positive.

In accordance with current CDC guidelines, I'm considered contagious through Monday, and so we have to postpone the Saturday, February 4 Teething Veils / Annette Wasilik show at Potter's House.

We will update as soon as we have a plan to reschedule. Thanks to everyone for being interested in this music.
