Here is a secret mix that sits in the shadows for quite some time and I'm not sure if I'm going to really publish it (here, not many people will see it anyways so I feel save :)). It's mainly Tri-State Gospel Esoterica from the late 60s and early 70s. Most of it is downloaded off youtube, because the records are hard to come by and so many haven't made it into the digital age yet. Anyways. Maybe you'll find it interesting.

NTS' "European Primitive Guitar" is the counterpart to Numero Group's "Wayfaring Strangers: Guitar Soli" or Tompkins Square's "Imaginational Anthem VIII".
Obscure solo guitar material from the 70/80's recorded in the old world and influenced by the new world. It's a great mix of Takoma School material and more European sounding material (whatever that means).

Album comes out in January 2024, in the meantime listen to the 3 preview tracks and find some on youtube.

Found this rare, private press solo acoustic guitar by 18 year old Frank Benn from Essen, Germany. Imagine Hayden Pedigo, but inspired by Wernherr von Lämmerhirt, Leo Kottke und Bob Dylan.

Finally finished a new mix. All acoustic guitar and a banjo. Hope you'll enjoy.

Finally finished a new mix. All acoustic guitar and a banjo. Hope you'll enjoy.

A new mix of solo acoustic guitar music has been long overdue. This year has seen the release of some great new music as well as the rediscovery of some older, lesser known recordings that are worth presenting. For example Gerhard Baum's album "Scrambled Eggs" and Wolfgang Barthel's "Magic Guitar Ri...

Phantastic debut by U.K. based guitarist Robert Bromley.

> Into the Ether—Robert Bromley's debut LP—explores hybrid and evocative sound-worlds which come together to communicate personal and, at times, highly critical narratives. Exploring the convergence of country-blues guitar methods and an array of disparate and heterogeneous practices ranging from musique concrete to Hindustani classical music—taking influence from American primitive pioneers such as John Fahey, Glenn Jones, and Daniel Bachman—Into the Ether makes no effort to conform to reductive taxonomies. Instead, it embraces hybridity and the communicative and creative potential of sonic resources.

Highly recommended!

Alex is good. He has a unique voice in the solo steel sting guitar field. Check out his new album!

From Czechia with love - an interview with guitarist and sound artist Tomáš Niesner who hopefully is already known for his work in the guitar duo Šimanský Niesner (with a gorgeous contribution to Imaginational Anthem Vol X and a superb debut album)

Interview conducted by Jakub Ďuraško (Stoned To Death Records), translated by Jiří Štěpán (of the band Národní Divadlo)

Tomáš Niesner, along with his buddy Jakub Šimanský is one of the few solo acoustic guitar artists from a country that should get more attention musically. After a gorgeous guitar album with Šimanský, a contribution to Tompkins Square records solo guitar compilation Imaginational Anthem Vol. X ...
