It’s a special feeling to be chosen…

The Portland Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta, Inc. from the Farwest Region surprised me with an invitation to be featured in their Delta Authors On Tour VIrtual Stop!

It was once again a moment for me to stop and come up for air to relish in the moment. I’m always so shocked when things happen to me and I always hear God saying, “there’s more.” 🥺 My pastor told me today “everything you went through is turning around for your good.” Whewwwww🙏

The good book tells us to expect great things…things bigger and better than our minds can imagine. Unfortunately our humanly mind keeps putting limitations on what God will do for us because sometimes we come from such humble beginnings, that we can’t see pass a certain level…I should say “I”….I’m talking about myself.

I’m so grateful.

Out of all of the speaking engagements I’ve had, speaking to addicts in recovery has been the most dearest to my heart. The second I stepped foot in my car, I cried like a baby.

God has a way of bringing your life full circle. My mom was once sitting in their place…listening to a speaker while I sat in the back playing with my toys. I accompanied my mom to narcotic anonymous (NA) meetings weekly as a kid….and on this day, that same little girl was the speaker…

I prayed that I would be able to touch their souls with my words.

I prayed for their journey, for their success, & for their family members who deal with their own addiction of co-dependency. Yes, co-dependency is REAL!!! You don’t have to be on drugs to be an “addict”.

Thank you to everyone at Pathways2Work for having me, dreaming with me, & engaging in such great discussion. May peace, success, & sobriety follow you forever ❤️

Thank you mom for planting a seed you never meant to plant but still grew out of the concrete. 🌹

This is the I TOLD YOU SO look I know God is giving me because I wanted to give up time and time again, but I have just defended my prospectus and can move forward to collecting this data! Although I still have some work to do, this is a milestone for me!

Throughout this dissertation, I wrote a book, became a bestseller, started a new position, booked speaking engagements & taught a class all while in a rigorous assistant principal leadership year-long course. Whewww 😅....I’m still mommy, wifey, sister, cousin, best friend, a church member, & best-friending. I’ve made bday celebrations, sisterly house calls, and lent my shoulder for tears and gave pats on the back....I’ve done fundraisers and even was voted Vice President of Alabama State Univ South Florida’s alumni chapter.....must I go on????

I’m God’s child and I’m on assignment....there’s no other explanation for it....although the fact that I’m a DELTA WOMAN comes close 😆...I defended my prospectus on my Deltaversary...oo-ooop to my line sisters of BCAC❗️

Every year over 100 South Florida students leave the sunshine state to attend Alabama State University 🐝. In 2021 Im blessed to give $1000 scholarship to a deserving senior from down south!

Yes, it’s very specific...doing this is near and dear to my heart and I need this student to HAVE THE SAME ENERGY!

I’m mentoring, teaching, and loving on whoever this student is...
