Congratulations to James Burton on being made the new CEO. It's good to see someone so heavily experienced within OCR at the helm
James Burton who has led our Competition & Safety Commission since November 2019 has today been appointed as Interim CEO by the UKOSF Board of Directors.
On the appointment UKOSF President Oner Avara commented that “James showed last year with the successful delivery of the UKOSF Short Course Competition that he has knowledge and commitment to lead this critical phase in the history of our federation”.
Among others things James will support the team in executing the following priorities:
1. Completion of federation requirements to allow UKOSF to submit our Sport England pre and full application to become a recognised sport in the UK.
2. The full integration of ninja sport into the federation through the implementation of our new organisational structure.
3. Supporting training centres and events as we move out of lockdown.
“I wanted to thank Venessa Moffat for her initial hard work as CEO. I’m honoured to take on the role and lead the submission process with Sport England where we will put our case forward for why ninja sport and OCR should be recognised as official UK sports. I have been part of the UK obstacle racing and ninja sport community since 2013 and believe there is no better group of people to help us grow obstacle sports in this country and introduce many new people, young and old, to fitness and the fun of obstacles.”
You can hear more from James and the team on April 22nd at our second UKOSF Unite webinar that will cover the recognition process and any questions that you have on the topic.
