As 2025 draws to a close, we wanted to take a moment to look back on the 6th year of Control Freak.

Huge thanks all the listeners, DJs, producers and artists we’ve worked with this year - with new music from our very own Faulter , , , , & b._mcqueen, alongside label showcases hosted with the .ldn and crews. Big love as always to for continuing to shape the visual world of the label.

While it was a slightly quieter year for new music from us, we’ve had more fun than ever playing out together this year - from our very own parties at .ldn to , , .ldn, .bath.house.hw +++

We’re ready to take that momentum forward with lots already lined up for 2026 — new releases from familiar faces, brand new friends, and a couple of international debuts on the horizon. We’re kicking it off with one last CF DJ set at our beloved .studios in January. See you next year 🌀

Happy remix day!

Back in April, launched his new alias Faulter with Obstinacy, breaking away from his previous UK-rooted productions and leaning towards deeper shades of psychedelic techno and electro.

Today we have four new interpretations of the originals for four dancefloor moods, courtesy of , , and the mysterious ._mcqueen.

Go check ‘em out x

Jen Hartley aka rounds off our forthcoming remix collection with a zonked-out Squarepusher-inspired spin on Data Spike - her ‘Swamp-pusher Mix’.

As uncompromising in the studio as she is in the booth, this is another entry into her unwaveringly high-quality and original production output, which includes recent releases on , , and her own .

A special thanks to Bear for all his help behind the scenes.

A longstanding member of the CF family, has remained one of the UK’s most exciting producer’s and recent exports - having just embarked on his first Asia tour. We’re thrilled to have had him turn in a rework of the title track Obstinacy, which you may have caught on ’s recent NTS show.

Blending his signature organic rhythms and warm bassweight, this minimal-leaning ‘Space Carnival Mix’ has been a staple in our DJ sets of late.

T-minus 1 week till our new remix collection hits the digital racks.

Next up on remix duties, its the mysterious ._mcqueen, who’s put her own spin on ‘Zaf’ - flipping the dubby stabs and vocal chops of the original into a rolling, minimal tech house slammer that packs a serious punch.

Already seen this one popping up in the clubs - it might sound familiar to anyone who came to our last party at .ldn 👀

is a hugely influential figure in the development of the Control Freak sound - so its a genuine pinch-me moment to be able to feature a remix of his on Faulter’s forthcoming remix EP Obstinacy: Reworked.

His Perspectives remix is available in full now on CF Bandcamp / streaming. This one is a real trip - clocking in at a hefty 8 mins of slow-mo, gnarly dub techno.

Already endorsed by your (and our!) favourite DJ & lots more 👀

NEW RELEASE: Faulter - Obstinacy: Reworked (, , & B. McQueen remixes)

Forest Drive West remix streaming now - full EP out 28.11.25

— — —

Following the release of Faulter’s () Obstinacy earlier this year, we’ve turned two long-standing CF regulars and welcome two newcomers to provide their takes on the label co-founder’s debut club collection.

As with the original, the remix EP unfolds in 2 halves: a pair of minimal-rooted 4-to-the-floor club tools, followed by a heady ‘B-side’ steeped in techno and IDM.

Label mainstay Syz kicks things off with a bouncy rendering of the title track in signature production style with his ‘Space Carnival Mix’, while the elusive B. McQueen dives into Zaf, providing a skippy, rolling tech-house backbone that brings the dubby elements of the original track into full club mode.

On the flip, it’s a genuine pinch-me moment at CFHQ to feature one of our all-time favourites, Forest Drive West, transforming Perspectives into an unforgettable slo-mo chug-dub-techno trip full of the intensity only he can deliver. Rounding off, our best-loved Bristolian Yushh leans into the 90bpm range with her Swamp-pusher remix, a twisted headf**k of a beat (good luck dancing to this one), reminiscent of early Squarepusher productions.

SATURDAY 11 OCTOBER - Control Freak x Sauna Social Club, London

We’re teaming up with our friends over at in a few weeks time for an exploration of some of the deeper downtempo and ambient flavours of CF.

Sauna Social Club is a new wellness space & audiophile listening lounge set up by a team of heads with deep roots in the UK scene. Joining us for a night of deep listening and subaqueous downtempo, we’ve invited Glasgow-via-London sauna boss (and selector extraordinaire) to help soundtrack proceedings.

We’ve really loved playing ambient sets at the likes of .dance and .ldn over the years - looking forward to another chance to stretch out and explore the weirder corners of our record bags.

Tickets are available via the Sauna Social Club website.

TOUPAZ - UNWIND & DISSOLVE GENTLY

returns to Control Freak with a 4 track EP of intricate club weapons.

Stream ‘Routine’ now - full EP out 04/07/25.

‘Unwind & Dissolve Gently’ showcases the Graz-based artist’s distinctive production flair - one which has developed in style and sophistication since his last outing on CF in 2022 as Awo Ojiji with subsequent releases via Well Street, Grid and Danielle’s Soft Raw imprint.

This collection draws heavy influence from the rich history of the UK scene - from the dubstep-leaning lurch of ‘Ramshackle’ to the introspective electronica of closing track ‘Whats The Mass of Memory?’

Balancing a delicate and subtle sense of melody and restraint with blunt force moments of controlled aggression, Toupaz’s precision sound engineering is guaranteed to send any discerning dancefloor into a frenzy - perfect for those explosive mid-set left turns.

CTRLFRK003 - OUT 05/06/2020

Kicking off the new decade, Control Freak co-founder Customer Service makes his production debut with five tracks of adventurous outsider electronics. On the A-side, ‘Dance First, Think Later’ is a bass-heavy dancefloor destroyer guaranteed to send the club west. Its followed with the ethereal sound design and off-kilter rhythms of ‘Recalcitrance’. On the flip, ‘Betty’s Audition’ takes the pace down a notch with rolling, hypnotic drum programming and plenty of low end punch, whilst ‘B1SM’ deploys a skeletal breakbeat - one for the early hours. Rounding things off, ‘Exquisite Corpse’ locks into a rigid 4/4 groove combining acid with delicate, textured pads.
