DJ Scientist just shared some info about his upcoming book project about 80s funk in Germany. Rare picture of John Davis (RIP) who tragically died on Covid-19 exactly 3 years ago - special thanks to Reginald Hudson!

Hi there!
Here's a rare picture of John Davis (RIP) from the early or mid 80s. Davis was a US musician, singer, songwriter, rapper and multiinstrumentalist that came to Germany for the Army in the 70s. He stayed here until his tragic death exactly 3 years ago by Covid-19. From 1983 to 1985 Davis was extremely active in the electro-funk, funk, boogie and funk rap field and was the key artist on the infamous Metrovynil label under which he released music under various aliases before he later became known worldwide as one of the real voices of Milli Vanilli. One of his greatest productions was together with Reginald Hudson (of Soundwand and OH Productions), another US composer/musician that lived in Germany for a long time. On their classic album "Shake It - Make It Loose" it featured awesome tunes like "Dancing Shoes" which I compiled on the 2LP "Boogie On The Mainline" in 2018.
I recently interviewed Hudson for my upcoming book project about 80s funk music from Germany and he also sent me this beautiful picture. Thanks so much! Everybody stay tuned and funky!

Hello there and happy new year! 2023 was busy and productive for our label and there are some great things to come in 2024.

First off, the brand new single by Ghia is OUT NOW. It's a track composed in 1985, now reworked by the homie Marian Tone, teaming up with Ed Longo, Jim Dunloop, Lucy Liebe and singer Adriano Prestel (of Pho Queue). The 7" is limited to only 300 copies and both tracks are exclusive:

Today, we finally want to reveal the vocal version of "Out of Luck". The tune was a lost track that Ghia members Lutz Boberg and Frank Simon composed back in 1985. Now, it has been resurrected by Marian Tone at Ed Longo's Soundrays Studio and features the mesmerizing vocals of Adriano Prestel. Legendary keyboardist Jim Dunloop expertly recreated Lutz Boberg's DX7 sounds, while guitarist Lucy Liebe stepped in to capture the guitar and bass parts. We hope you enjoy this new Ghia project.
