Fact Check (claim): Turkey blacklisted India, imposes complete ban on defence exports.

Reporter: Hi Sir I am Siddhant from CNN News18. Some reports are suggesting that Turkey has imposed an export ban on India in terms of military export. Do you have any comments to make on that? Thank you.

MEA Spokesperson: we have seen some reports. As far as my knowledge is concerned and information is concerned, that information is not good.

So I will refer you to please take that question to the Turkish Embassy who can for short give you an answer because it is a post which generated in Turkey. To my understanding, to the best of my knowledge, it is disinformation at best.

With advancements in artificial intelligence, there is a growing hope that AI technologies such as Generative AI can offer effective solutions to combat this menace.

Fact Check: Is Solana doing an Airdrop?

Context: A post from the handle “Solana_Rewards” is circulating on X platform which claims that SOLANA is doing an Airdrop. It is important to note that SOLANA is NOT conducting an airdrop. There is currently no official announcement from Solana regarding an airdrop.

Caution: Please be aware that any claims suggesting otherwise are false and should not be trusted.

Conclusion: This claim is FAKE ❌

Context: Beware of a fake post circulating in the X comments section of various viral posts. A profile impersonating is claiming to give away Bitcoin.

Fact Check: Nexo Airdrop email is fake and possibly a Phishing attack.

Context: Nexo is NOT conducting an Airdrop of its token to their users as claimed in the email received by many. This email is not from Nexo, it is fake.

Caution: Please be cautious and do not provide any personal information or click on any links in the email.

Conclusion: Fake Email ❌

Fact Check: There is a fake claim being circulated on Twitter/X from an account named “Ivan Dimitrov”. This fake post is being amplified through what appears to be an “Ad”.

Conclusion: Uday Kotak, the founder of Kotak Mahindra Bank, has confirmed in a tweet that this is a FAKE claim.

Note: It is absolutely important to stay vigilant and actively combat the spread of such false information online. Always take all necessary measures to avoid being duped by scams or unknowingly spreading misinformation.

Fact Check: SEC has approved spot Bitcoin ETF, according to their official Twitter/X post.

SEC: The “SECGov” X account was compromised, and “an unauthorized post was posted”. The SEC has “not approved” the listing and trading of spot bitcoin exchange-traded products.

From X Safety: We can confirm that the account “SECGov” was compromised and we have completed a preliminary investigation.

The announcement further reads, “Based on our investigation, the compromise was not due to any breach of X’s systems, but rather due to an unidentified individual obtaining control over a phone number associated with the “SECGov” account through a third party. We can also confirm that the account did not have two-factor authentication enabled at the time the account was compromised”.

Conclusion: As of now, the SEC has not made any official announcement regarding the approval of spot Bitcoin ETFs. Hence, it can be confirmed that no spot Bitcoin ETFs have been approved by the SEC at the moment.

Fact Check: did a quick verification on the claims circulating on social media that Google searches for the term “Lakshadweep” skyrocketed after Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi posted pictures of him from the Lakshadweep Islands on Jan 4th.

Conclusion: Google Trends confirms it is true. We have attached a search trends graph comparing both “Maldives” and “Lakshadweep” for your reference.

🚨 Fact Check: “Base” token Airdrop is Fake.

Context: There have been numerous reports of scammers launching campaigns on X/Twitter claiming that the “Base L2” chain is distributing its network’s native token/coin “Base” via airdrop.

Conclusion: Coinbase expressly states that they have no intentions to launch a new network token at this time. They also warned users about scammers attempting to offer fake “Base” tokens.

If you see any such claims online, they are nothing but bogus claims made in order to defraud users. Report such posts immediately.

Fact Check: Vladimir Putin has suffered a cardiac arrest, according to “General SVR” Telegram channel.

Context: The news circulating in the media throughout the world about “Vladimir Putin suffering a cardiac arrest” all refers to one “claim” made by a telegram channel with a history of propagating rumors.

There has been no official statement from Moscow, nor has there been any reliable information from the Russian mainstream media.
