Today, my heart overflows with joy as I celebrate the 8th anniversary of Dara Publishing’s remarkable journey.

Reflecting on that very first day, I still remember the mix of excitement and nervous energy that accompanied me. Starting a business is no small feat—it's a path marked by vulnerability, risk, and profound fulfillment.

These eight years have tested me in ways I never imagined and shown that I am capable of achieving anything I set my mind to. The first four years were dedicated to publishing my personal books, serving as my on-the-job training for when it was time to expand.

In 2020, God guided me to leave my job and pursue my business full-time. With God as my only mentor and coach, I embraced His vision and purpose for my life. That year was one of rebirth and new beginnings, as I revamped and restructured my company’s mission, vision, and purpose. By January 2022, we launched a new chapter.

Today, I’m not just celebrating eight years of a hobby; I’m honoring eight years of nurturing a growing, thriving business that has been fully serving our authors for the past three years. Since opening our virtual doors, we are proud to be approaching the milestone of serving approximately 100 clients with book coaching, writing coaching, publishing, editing, marketing services etc.

A special thank you goes to all of our customers—your support has been the fuel that keeps us going. For a small business, this achievement is nothing short of extraordinary, and I attribute this success to the grace of God. If you want to tell your story appealingly, you need an outline. An outline helps you structure your book to flow from one chapter to another and makes the writing process more manageable.

Perhaps you are one of those novelists who write by the seat of their pants—a "pantser," so to speak. That's totally fine, too, but you need to sense where your story is going. Outline your characters and beginning scenes as much as you can, and you can add to that outline as you see the structure of your novel develop.

Attention ALL!!!

I have a question 🙋‍♀️

Can you think back to when you were a child and, after watching a great movie, you felt empowered to conquer the world? Suddenly, within a twinkle of an eye, you knew you could be whatever you wanted to be or go wherever you wanted to go?

I'm sure you’re thinking about those days right now and smiling. Right? 🤔

Now, do you remember when that feeling of empowerment vanished a few days later, replaced by a sense of defeat and disappointment, leaving you feeling powerless and uninspired? I remember it all too well!

I vividly recall the world premiere of *Black Panther* on January 29, 2018. Every little boy and girl, regardless of race—Black, Caucasian, Latino, Chinese, you name it—felt empowered. They saw themselves achieving great things and making a difference in the world, and even some adults felt that way too.

If you had asked any child how *Black Panther* made them feel, I'm certain they would have responded with words like “POWERFUL, EMPOWERED, HAPPY, HOPEFUL,” and so on. They, like us, experienced the feeling of being able to take on the world 🌎.

As a Coach and Mentor, I've seen many people initially hyped up about writing and publishing their book, only to come down from that high and return to a reality that felt neither empowering nor exciting. This happens because they were led by fluctuating emotions and lacked the tools to truly empower themselves based on their own talents, creativity, and self-belief. They couldn't see themselves truly excelling as authors or authority figures. Investing financially was a risk because they lacked confidence.

"Everybody’s a prisoner of their own perspective." Truth! We are all limited by our imaginations and can only see the world through our own point of view. But this isn’t always beneficial if you're seeing it through a limited or partial vision. That’s why my self-publishing coaching programs and services are designed to break down those limitations and give you the opportunity to see what you are truly made of. This will help you work on your personal, social, and emotional skills, building a foundation not based solely on emotions, which may come and go, but on the core of who you are.

What do you do when you find yourself in doubt about who you “say” you are and who people believe you are?

Often, we do not believe our own story, and when someone sees us in a successful or seemingly high way, we doubt ourselves and secretly wonder if they are referring to us or someone else.

If that’s you, I want you to know you’re not alone. I feel that way too, but I don’t let that feeling take over. I remind myself daily of who I am, speaking to myself and over these situations to ensure I do what’s best for me.

I am not going to tell you that life is short and you only live once. I am not going to say travel to find yourself. I am not going to tell you what you want to hear. Every situation and every story is different. What works for you may be a disaster for someone else.

As an entrepreneur, I have to speak to myself daily. Below are some of the things I tell myself to build my self-belief and grow as a person and entrepreneur:

✔️ Believe in yourself, but be aware that you live in reality. Know your worth, but don’t be above working for free. Also, know when you are ready to get paid and progress. Don’t be afraid to go for something that you think is out of your league.

✔️ Nepotism can be your best friend, or it can stab you in the back. Network, but don’t use people (know the difference).

✔️ Connections can get you the job, but only you can keep it. Be independent, but remember no one successful ever did it alone. Behind every superstar is a great team. Appreciate them. You are nothing without your support system, and you are here purely because of them.

✔️ Anyone who says you can’t have it all has never had it all. These are the ordinary people who work the same entry-level boring office job they got at 25 and were too afraid to chase what they actually wanted. These are the conformists of the world, not the dreamers.

Don’t ever let them ruin your dreams just because they gave up on theirs. If your dream is to become a Bestselling Author or perhaps an International Bestselling Author, let’s talk. I know exactly how to make that dream your reality.
