INSPIRATION

In the coming period I will be sharing some of my favorite and inspirational DJ’s. First up is someone who amazes me with his skills: James Zabiela.

And I think the video I posted below shows exactly why. In my opinion creative innovation has always been a huge part of DJ’ing and DJ culture. Using everything from records to sounds in a creative, live, and danceable way is what dance music is all about. James Zabiela demonstrates this forward thinking style perfectly. Pioneer DJ is trusting him to help in their innovation process, I understand, that should say something. The scratch video below is a great example of all of this.

Exactly how did this man inspire you, I hear you think. Well, I’ve used the ‘James Zabiela Scratch Trick’ during my bauhauz gig which was exciting 😉 What I added was sampling this live, looping the scratch as a break between tunes. You can hear it at around 57 minutes in this mix:

I’ve just uploaded my mix at The Reunion Hiernaast. As this was an opening set for an old-school hardcore party it’s quite up-tempo, like at a pace I would normally start a closing set 😀 Starting with some Rebekah techno at 135 BPM, going through some of my favorite (techno) classics, and ending with a hard hitting Robert Armani track from 1997 at around 148 BPM… I think you’ll enjoy this one!

Elektrochemie LK - Schall (Thomas Schumacher Remix)

I have been looking for this track since I began playing techno back in 2012. This track really takes me back to roaming the dance floors of ID&T’s Shockers and Udc’s Impulz parties in the beginning of this millennium. I’m still super happy that I found it 😃

So, this is my way of saying THANK YOU for all the support last year and I look forward to play it to you somewhere soon!

Being an opening-DJ and stage manager for Ghost in the Machine, stranger, Perc and The Horrorist at bauhauz last Saturday was the bomb! Thnx to all the DJ’s, everyone from the bauhauz-team, and most importantly all of you who danced with me those first two hours! Unforgettable 😎
