In a small Devon village called Salcombe, a carefully crafted gin was being developed with an ambition in mind – to bring a taste of the sea to the first gin distillery at sea.
The Salcombe Distilling Co. was born in 2014 and quickly garnered critical acclaim amongst gin industry stalwarts.
Cut to 2020 and Salcombe Gin was about to be launched onboard P&O Cruises' flagship liner, Iona.
Then the Covid-19 pandemic hit and the partnership plans were somewhat delayed.
Instead of gin, they began to produce hand sanitiser to help out with the cause.
Such is the life of an independent gin distillery.

The Hackney Pirates Need You!
The Hackney Pirates is an enterprising charity based in Dalston, London – a stone’s throw from the Swhype studio in Shoreditch. They are working to develop the literacy, confidence and perseverance of young people in Hackney, helping them to achieve both in school and in the world beyond.
The Pirates reached out to Swhype last year and we were only too happy to help. Our first meeting with Anthony, one of the Pirate volunteers ended with an acoustic rendition, guitar in hand, of a self-penned tune. We believe a good relationship always starts with a meeting song, right? (July2017)

It resulted in Swhype working with them to produce a series of compelling videos, which would be used to raise awareness of the work they do and to act as a recruitment video for potential volunteers.

Here's singer songwriter Tom Odell being 'on-trend' in his first photo shoot for Esquire UK back in 2013 - back before his Critic's Choice BRIT award, John Lewis penguin ad and a multi-million selling record career. The photographer was the lovely David Titlow and stylist was the equally lovely Gareth Scourfield. We wanted to add value to the usual 'BTS' business so we integrated captions into the footage designed to link out to the clothes.
