Story time (part 1) How We Met

This is one of my favorite stories to tell!

Matt and I are from the same hometown and while we didn’t go to the same schools, we had a mutual friend in hs, which is how Matt knew who I was. I knew OF him and his twin brother because… everyone in town knew who they were. Party boys. Lots of energy. Basically… the same people they are now lol

Matt says he had the biggest crush on me before we met. I was the emo/punk rebel-type hanging out with all the wrong people and doing all the wrong things lol

It wasn’t until April 2015 that we actually hung out (the last photo in this carousel) and by “hung out,” I mean, we got wasted together at a 18+ club in San Francisco and ended up having the best night!

We texted for months after, but I was planning on moving to SD and he was living in SLO so things fizzled out…
-
Fast forward to 2020, I had just gotten lasik eye surgery and was on my couch watching stories when I saw Matt and his brother were in SD. I told him to lmk if he needed any recommendations and he asked if I would hang out with them. I didn’t want to because you can’t wear makeup after getting lasik for weeks after I felt ugly but he eventually convinced me.

We spent all day together playing tourists in my city. And then we were just hooked. We talked every single day after he left SD then 5 months later, he asked if I’d be his long-distance girlfriend. I said yes and we were together for 8 months but long distance was hard on us and we ended up breaking up BUT
-
Even after the breakup, I told all of my close friends “it’s ok, I’m fine. We are going to get back together when he eventually moves to San Diego and I’m going to marry him one day”
-
Almost a year later, we reconnect after us both dating other people. There it was… that spark again. And it hit HARD. Like two addicts remember why they fell into their addictions to begin with.

Again, we couldn’t stop talking day-in and day-out.

Months after reconnecting and deciding to get back together, he moved down to San Diego to live with me after finding a job here. Ladies… this is your reminder… IF HE WANTED TO, HE WOULD!
