John Lewis, US Representative who died in July 2020 at 80 years old marched in many civil rights protests including the Freedom Rides, the 1963 March on Washington, and the Selma to Montgomery Marches. During the march across the Pettus Bridge in Selma, Ala., Lewis had his skull fractured by a state trooper while he had stopped to pray.

Lewis' words, "If not us, then who? If now now, then when?" became a rallying cry for the civil rights movement.

Let's remember Dr. Martin Luther King on this day of his celebration, and strive to live by the words of John Lewis.
