“I could not be a poet without the natural world. Someone else could. But not me. For me the door to the woods is the door to the temple.”

You were lavender in the sunshine
A lupine in the wind
A shadow in my meadow
I couldn’t help but drink you in

Like baby’s breath upon my breast
I drowned in mountain streams
I caught your scent upon the breeze
I fell for cupid’s dream

But all too soon the night came calling
Too soon I woke with haste
A simple remnant of woeful hope’s
All too bitter aftertaste
