- The Jitterbug Café located at 1635 G.A.R. Highway is now open for business in Swansea.

The building was formerly home to One Horse Pizzeria and Saloon, which closed last June after more than 10 years in business.

Linda Gorman Farias is the owner of Swansea’s newest eatery for breakfast and lunch fare. The Jitterbug Café is open 7 days a week.

Monday through Friday - 6am to 6pm
Saturday – 8am to 6pm
Sunday – 10am to 6pm

The new café also features beautiful artisan-created goods for sale, art prints featuring Swansea items, Fur, Fins and Feathers mugs, and tasty treats. We wish them luck and hope you’ll give them a try!

- Isabellenhuette USA will be celebrating the Grand Opening of their new headquarters with a ribbon cutting ceremony at 1199 G.A.R. Highway in Swansea on Wednesday, August 14th. The same spot was also formally home to Willaby's Billiards, which closed in 2023.

Isabellenhuette USA is the US branch of a company headquartered in Dillenburg, Germany. The company has been in business for over 500 years, they are in 9th generation family ownership, and they are named for a German princess.

They have a long history in Swansea, and were excited to have the opportunity to purchase the building where they had previously rented office and warehouse space. The company was also the recipient of Swansea’s first TIF agreement, as well as receiving tax credits from the Massachusetts Office of Business Development’s Economic Development Incentive Program. This allows them to extend their growth path and continue to invest in Swansea.

The Swansea facility houses executive and sales offices, as well as extensive warehouse space. Part of the facility will be dedicated to hosting training and demonstration events, which promises to bring additional economic activity into the area.

Renovations have been carried out under the supervision of Pariseault Builders of Cranston, RI, with support from Rebecca Poole Design and Cara Pomeranz, Architect, LLC.

For most of their history, they’ve been producing precision copper alloys for thermoelectric and resistance applications. In the last 40 years, they have also used these alloys to expand into electronic components. NEW- Dynasty Pools retail showroom at 650 G.A.R. Highway in Swansea has closed according to a sign posted on its doors. The retail store sold pool chemicals, patio furniture, pool toys and more.
The property has also been listed FOR SALE on the commercial real estate website Loopnet.com.

Dynasty Pools currently still operates out of its headquarters at 2 Clemenceau Street in East Providence. - Li’l Audrey’s is expanding by reopening their former Swansea location with the new name "Audrey's Market & Deli". The new Swansea store located at 395 Wilbur Avenue will open its doors this Friday, June 28th at 7am.

The former Li’l Audrey’s location at 395 Wilbur Avenue was open for 2 years starting in 2010, before the property eventually became the No Joke Smoke BBQ.

Li'l Audrey's, is known for its clam boils and prepared meals. The Somerset location will continue to operate at 1159 Read Street, as it has for over 30 years.

According to a filing with the Fall River Registry of Deeds, Sutherland Properties Inc., sold the Swansea property to 395 Wilbur Ave LLC in February for $619,000.

– According to a Building Permit filed with the Swansea Building Department, a new Boutique Event Venue named “Versailles Venue” is coming to the Swansea Mall. The new venue will be located at the front of the complex in Suite 408 near the self-storage facility.

- The Silver Stone Castle and Family Entertainment complex under construction at 358 G.A.R. Highway in Swansea is aiming for an early winter opening according to the Rhode Show on WPRI-TV. Major progress with the build-out is clearly visible from anyone driving by the new venue.

Joseph Estrela, owner and operator of the new entertainment complex, says the venue will feature a variety of activities including indoor electric go-karts, an indoor pool, a tavern style restaurant, 2 ballrooms, party rooms, laser tag, arcade, virtual reality games, rock climbing walls, amusement rides, and an overhead rope course.

According to a filing with the Fall River Registry of Deeds, Sutherland Properties Inc., sold the property to 395 Wilbur Ave LLC for $619,000. There is no word yet on what the new owner has planned for the building.

In April of 2023, the owners of No Joke Smoke BBQ at 395 Wilbur Avenue in Swansea announced the closure of their restaurant and the property was listed for sale or lease.

No Joke Smoke BBQ was owned and operated by Ryan and Sharon Nahas. The couple originally opened their BBQ eatery at 395 Wilbur Avenue back in 2019.

- The Ninth Events Venue will open soon inside the former Auction Store at 75 Swansea Mall Drive.

The 4,000 square foot space inside the small plaza on Swansea Mall Drive is being transformed into the new event venue, which will have seating for 140 people.

The Ninth Events Venue features Chandeliers, Integrated up-lighting, Bluetooth audio system and 2 restrooms. The venue space has an elegant and modern décor throughout the facility.

The event space can be used for Anniversaries, Birthdays, Bridal & Baby showers, Sweet 16 & Engagement parties, Rehearsal dinners, Weddings, Christenings, Graduation & Holiday parties and Corporate events.

Fabiola Felix and her husband Ruddy Felix reside in Johnston Rhode Island and are the owners of the new venue.

The new Swansea Mall location will be named “Q Nails & Spa 2”. Yes, there will be Q Nails & Spa storefronts on both sides of Swansea Mall Drive.

- The Pink Bag Consignment shop is in the process of moving to a larger space at the intersection of G.A.R. Highway and Gardners Neck Road in Swansea. The new shop is across the street from Mister Peepers ice cream.

The Pink Bag Consignment's current location, inside the strip plaza at 103 Swansea Mall Drive, is now closed as merchandise is being transferred to the new bigger location.

-A retail development is being proposed for 718 G.A.R Highway in Swansea that will feature a planned Chipotle and Starbucks. The site is directly across the street from the new Burger King.

A national automotive business is also being eyed for the property. An additional 3,000 square foot end cap space is also available for lease for a potential bank with the option for a Drive-Thru and ATM. Three separate buildings are being proposed for the site according to the application received by the Swansea Planning Board.

A Planning Board public hearing will be held on February 5th at 6:30pm, for the application of Louis F. Fayan, III and Anne Marie Fayan, Trustees, for approval of a Special Permit for a Drive-through Facility at 718 GAR Highway, A. P. 75, Lot 29.

The Swansea Zoning Board of Appeals will also hold a public hearing in the School Administration Building, 1 Gardners Neck Road, Swansea, on February 1st at 7pm to consider the following petition: #3218- 718 G.A.R. HIGHWAY SWANSEA, LLC - seeking a special permit to erect a free-standing sign larger than allowed, at 718 G A R Highway.

On October 3rd, the Swansea Board of Selectmen granted Odete Duarte of JR's Seaside Tavern, Inc., a transfer of an On-Premise All Alcohol Beverage License from Ocean Tavern, Inc. d/b/a Happy Clam to JR's Seaside Tavern, Inc.

The former Happy Clam building is 2,432 Square Feet in size and was built in 1940.

- The national chain Detail Garage which opened its first northeast location in the Town of Swansea in 2018 has announced that they are closing their store at 207 Swansea Mall Drive at the end of December.
