- The legacy of great food and family tradition continues with the opening of Vilma’s at Touisset Country Club, 221 Pearse Road in Swansea, on Tuesday, April 15th. Under the expert guidance of Head Chef Nicholas Carreiro, Vilma’s promises to bring an elevated yet welcoming dining experience to both club members and is open to the public.

Vilma's at Touisset Country Club pays tribute to Vilma Brigham, the original co-owner and chef, as well as her husband Ray Brigham, who spent 2 long years designing and building the golf course by hand. Their dream became a reality when the course officially opened in 1961, and it has remained a cherished landmark ever since. Now, as a third-generation family-owned and operated course, Touisset continues to honor its roots while embracing a fresh culinary vision.

Vilma’s at Touisset will officially open for the season to the public on April 15th, welcoming guests to enjoy a season of exceptional dining in casual and inviting setting.

They look forward to welcoming you to Vilma’s at Touisset Country Club, where history, hospitality, and delicious cuisine come together in a setting like no other.

- The Big Lots location at the Swansea Crossing Plaza at 207 Swansea Mall Drive has officially been shuttered. There are also 6 other vacant storefronts currently inside the Swansea Crossing Plaza.

- Vitality Veterinary Services is leaving the Target Plaza at 773 G.A.R. Highway in Swansea. They will be relocating to their own building located near Eskimo King and the Gridiron Restaurant in Swansea.

The following information regarding the move has been posted on their Vitality Veterinary Services page:

The new address is 76 Baptist Street in Swansea.

Important Dates to Remember:

January 20–21, 2025: They’ll be temporarily closed to finalize the move.

January 22, 2025: They officially open at our new location!

What does this mean for you?

All appointments from January 22 onward will be at their new address.

- The Acores Family Restaurant has officially announced that the Grand Opening of its new location at 317 Ocean Grove Avenue in Swansea will take place this Thursday, January 16th at 11:30am.

The Acores Family Restaurants Fall River location, inside the St. Johns Club at 1365 Rodman Street, closed permanently on December 28th. The new Swansea location was the home to the former Ocean Grove Portuguese Steakhouse.

More seafood additions will be offered at the new Swansea location according to Sara Pagan. An outdoor dining patio and a full liquor license are also being eyed for the future Swansea restauant along the water.

Sara Pagan's mother Natalia Silva, their head chef, has over 18 years of experience working at Caravela Restaurant and the now-closed Academica Restaurant on South Main Street.

Menu highlights include their Portuguese steak plate, surf and turf, shrimp and chicken Mozambique, pork loin plate, chourico and chips, fish and chips, and chicharros, as well as various sandwiches served on a Portuguese roll. They also serve the traditional chourico a bombeiro, which is Portuguese sausage.

- The Silver Stone Castle and Family Entertainment complex is finally nearing completion after five years of construction at 358 G.A.R. Highway in Swansea. The massive enterainment complex is set for an early 2025 opening.

The new facility will feature a variety of activities including indoor electric go-karts, laser tag, arcade, virtual reality games, rock climbing walls, amusement rides, and an overhead rope course. Also the complex has an indoor heated “resort-style pool” that features elaborate stonework, grottoes and caves, and moving water features.

The property also features a 40-foot dragon sculpture and a 20-foot knight statue perfect for selfies.

Silver Stone not only prides itself on bringing an amazing new take on family fun and adventure, but will also offer an exceptionally exquisite 280 person tavern style restaurant!

The secret to throwing a memorable event is finding a stellar venue and their spacious ballroom will be able to accommodate up to 150 people. The ballroom is ideal for birthday parties, wedding receptions, family reunions, banquets and corporate events. They will also have medieval and non-fantasy themed event rooms for your use.

The entire facility is 87,000 square feet in size.

– According to a banner on the vacant Bristol County Auto Exchange building at 2388 GAR Highway in Swansea, Bucko's Pizza will be taking over the spot soon.

In September, the owner of Bristol County Auto Exchange faced a litany of charges related to his dealership: nine counts of larceny over $1,200 under false pretenses, eight counts of forgery or misuse of a Registry of Motor Vehicles document, 13 counts of failure to deliver a title upon motor vehicle transfer, four counts of larceny of a motor vehicle and one count of larceny by check of over $1,200.

There is no word yet as to when Bucko's Pizza will open.
