“12 Angry Men”
*MEET THE CAST*

Piers Dalton as Juror #5, Tim Rhodes as Juror #12 & Josh Hendrix as Juror #6

Piers Dalton began performing in 2019, his first role being Gaston in “Beauty & The Beast” at Rogers High School. Since then, his love for the arts has grown, as he has now had roles in other shows, such as: Babkak in “Aladdin”, Jack Kelly in “Newsies”, Hugo Peabody in “Bye Bye Birdie”, Chuck Cranston in “Footloose” & now Juror #5 in “12 Angry Men”.

This is the first straight play he has ever appeared in, and he is excited to portray some of the mental anguish that Juror #5 endures throughout the show.

Tim Rhodes has been involved in theater for almost 50 years, performing in over 50 theatrical productions, including high school, his time at UNA & the years since in the local community theater scene. He has portrayed roles such as: Shrek in “Shrek, The Musical”, General Lord Glossop in “Jekyll & Hyde: The Musical”, The Narrator in “Into the Woods”, W***y Wonka in “W***y Wonka & The Chocolate Factory”, King Triton in “The Little Mermaid” & more!

He would like to give a special thank you to Robert Allen Holder, Alan Flowers & David Hope for teaching him so many aspects of theatre, as well as Randy Pettus & Rebecca Rockhill for his very beginnings in music & theatre. “12 Angry Men” will be Tim’s last acting performance for a while as he plans to take new adventures in his life.

Josh Hendrix started acting in 2018, and has helped behind the scenes in multiple productions as well. His onstage debut was in “Through My Eyes”. He has also been in other shows, such as “The Elephant Man” & “Bloodless: The Lizzy Borden Mystery”. He has also been involved in multiple films, as a performer, crew member & stunt choreographer.

Before getting into the arts, Josh was an independent wrestler for over 18 years.

Jay Paul Chase as Juror #2 & LaDarius Prince as Juror #11

Jay Paul Chase has been involved in theater since 2010, when he was cast in “Annie”. The acting bug bit at a most unexpected moment, and since then, he has been in love with performing. He sees it as, yes, expressing a story, but also telling a truth. He has been blessed to have made many longtime friends along the way.

He is looking forward to bringing this incarnation of this classic to thunderous life once again for audiences.

LaDarius Prince (Herman) is a Dance Fitness Instructor/Choreographer here in the Florence area. It’s been 7 years since he has done a straight play, and he is so excited to get back into his acting roots! Recent favorite roles include: Jefferson in “Lesson Before Dying” (UNA), Pablo in “Sister Act” (Cypress Moon) & Miss Texas in “Pageant” (The Shoals Theater). Recent choreographing credits include: “Sister Act”, “Mean Girls”, “Footloose” & “Hunchback of Notre Dame”!

Production Vlog #6: "One Month Out"

Being one month from opening brings a unique set of challenges, especially that of little details. From one on one sessions to dialogue rehearsal & repetition over and over again, the cast starts trying to piece everything together, to get an idea of what the final product could be. It's not an easy step, but it is a vital one. Watch as they begin to dive deeper into each character's phsyicality & mentality, while also starting to create the arc of the show as a whole.

Leon Cunningham as The Foreman & Don Grace as Juror #9

Leon Cunningham started his involvement in theatre back in high school and stayed involved throughout college. He has been in multiple musicals such as "Hello Dolly", "South Pacific", "Annie", "Guys and Dolls" & several others. He took a break from theatre for several years, and recently came back with his role as Daddy Murphy in "Bright Star". Most recently he portrayed photographer George Pierce in Million Dollar Quartet.

He is excited to have the opportunity to portray the Foreman of the Jury in "12 Angry Men". He feels the approach to the way this show is being presented is unique and different from anything he has had the opportunity to do before. This is a truly special show to him for a multitude of reasons and he knows that you'll be completely immersed in the story and setting. Leon hopes that you'll come out and see the show and walk away with a sense of fulfillment and hope.

Don Grace has appeared in around 40 stage productions, in a variety of theaters in the Shoals & Decatur area, over the last sixteen years. He grew up in the Florence area, graduating from Bradshaw High School and the University of North Alabama. He is also a playwright and an amateur filmmaker. He has three beautiful granddaughters, all of whom will appear in his next film. He lives near St. Florian with his lovely wife of 28 years, as well as with a befuddled dog and a surly cat.

“12 Angry Men” is change of pace for him, as he mostly performs in comedies.

Synopsis:
The setting is a rundown bar in the Bronx, where two of society’s rejects, Danny and Roberta, strike up a halting conversation over their beer. The Village School is a beautiful piece of history. We are honored to have it host our two theatrical productions, "12 Angry Men" & "Danny and the Deep Blue Sea" next month!

Check out this great documentary short about it & learn how a handful of dedicated neighbors in the Muscle Shoals saved their historic school house at the center of the neighborhood. They created an enduring foundation and a place for culture, music, and the arts.

Morgan Lee as Juror #10

Morgan Lee’s journey in theater began during his high school years, where early performances sparked a lifelong passion for acting. After returning to the stage in 2023 with “The Game’s Afoot” at the Shoals Theater, his dedication to the craft deepened, leading to his involvement in “Clue: On Stage,” where he further honed his skills in community theater.

Morgan was deeply drawn to the narrative, style and aesthetic of this independent production of “12 Angry Men,” a classic drama that delves into the intricacies of human nature and justice. He describes this experience as profoundly enriching and deeply challenging, reflecting on the play’s enduring relevance and emotional depth. We are glad to announce another group that will be performing LIVE during our pre-show experience for “Danny and the Deep Blue Sea”… The Porch Dwellers!

Isabella Robertson performed in “Doubt, A Parable” last fall, and we are glad to have her back involved with us, along with her sister, Liz, to perform the pre-show for the Saturday, September 14th performance!

Avery Guinn as Juror #7

Avery Guinn is a stage/film performer from the Muscle Shoals area. He has portrayed roles such as “The Wolf/Cinderella’s Prince” in Sondheim’s “Into the Woods”, “Johnny Cash” in “Million Dollar Quartet”, “The Man in the Yellow Suit” from “Tuck Everlasting” and many more.

He hopes that you enjoy the show and that you use those brain muscles to form your own opinion on the outcome of the jury’s deliberation.

*MEET THE CAST*

Matt Rose as Juror #3

Matt Rose made his theatrical debut in high school with comedies like “The Nerd” (Willum) and “Harvey” (Elwood), directing “Alabama Rain” during that time and participating in various short film projects. He went on to be featured in college performances like “Rimers of Eldridge” (Robert) and Shakespeare such as “Taming of the Shew” (Lucentio) and “Hamlet” (Laertes). After taking a 20 year hiatus, he returned to the stage in 2023 to do musicals such as “Addams Family” (Gomez), “Footloose” (Shaw), and most recently as the eponymous character in “W***y Wonka”.

He graduated from UNA and works as an Advisor and Consultant with Listerhill. He lives in the Shoals with his wife Anna Beth, two children (who are also thespians) and three spoiled cats.

Matt is most excited about working with a unique venue and innovative production group, as well as being cast in a classic play that is sure to be a memorable experience for the viewers and cast.

Matt Upton as Juror #4

Matt Upton splits his time between many hats; husband, father, Registered Nurse, and community theatre performer and director, to name only a few. His most recent ventures include the role of Colonel Mustard in “Clue”, Lt. Jack Ross in “A Few Good Men”, Detective Trotter in “Mousetrap”, and directing “Rabbit Hole” at the Shoals Theatre.

Matt is thrilled for the opportunity to help bring this story to the area in a fresh and intimate approach. He encourages anyone who appreciates local arts to consider supporting the Village School Foundation’s continued efforts to restore this space as a creative venue for years to come.

Steifon Passmore as Juror #8

Steifon J. Passmore began in high school theatre at 16, and he graduated from UNA with a degree in Communications and Theatre. Steifon has been acting and directing in the Shoals area since 1992, having had leading or supporting roles in plays like "Othello" (Othello), "Macbeth" (Macbeth), "Hamlet" (Guildenstern), "The Merchant of Venice" (Gratiano), "Night of The Living Dead" (Ben), and "Glengary Glen Ross" (Rick).He has also directed plays locally including "True West", "Of Mice and Men", Sweeney Todd", "The Three Musketeers", "In The Heat of The Night", "A Murder Is Announced", and he must recently appeared in "Clue" as Professor Plum. He currently works as a programmer and on air afternoon personality for Big River Broadcasting's Country station KIX96.

He is looking most forward to exploring the character of Juror 8, and working with close friends in the cast who he has never shared the stage with before now.

One thing we like to do is make our shows full-on EXPERIENCES! Right when you enter the venue, we want you to be transported into the world of the show.

So, for “Danny and the Deep Blue Sea” we will
be implementing LIVE MUSIC during the pre-show as well as a LIVE ORIGINAL SCORE during the show!

For the opening night performance on September 12th, we are pleased to say that The Dirty Rain Revelers will be playing LIVE for our pre-show experience!
