In September of 2011, while working with a local construction crew tearing down what was then Raven’s Cafe located on Mille Lacs’ west side, Steven Hanks (pictured above) came across a nondescript plastic container stuck in the wall of the base of the cafe.

Hanks happened to look inside that container and low and behold there was a hand-written message signed by Sig and Don Burling that read: “Blocks laid by Carl Simonson in the summer of 1966. To whom it may concern: We hope you have half the pleasure of tearing this down as we had building it.”

Forty-five years after planting that mini time-capsule, it was finally discovered by someone.
