So "points" seasons last 12 weeks. Each week is a different track in the classes you race in (except for a few oddities like Offroad trucks (which is a hoot) and maybe some rallycross). Anyhow, on the 13th week (which is this week), they release updates to the sim and there are races that aren't "official" that people participate in.
The big draw right now is the offroad trucks races, but for me so far, that has been mostly a demo derby. So tonight I decided to try some of that there Nascar style Oval driving.
I will admit that I didn't really appreciate how close those cars are at any point to loosing grip.
As I've learned in ALL the rookie class events and "week 13" events, it's best just just sit back and wait for the inevitable carnage that is certain to occur within a minute or two of the race start. The higher class races (class C and up) still have that to a degree, but the people who are consistent at causing mass wrecks are held back into lower classes by their lower safety rating.
In this raceI think I qualified in the mid-teens, but by the time the smoke had cleared I was in 6th and then pushed my way to 4th with the help of the #5 Vagisil.
Dont' give me a hard time, it wasn't MY car and I did appreciate the push.
I've been on the pushing side, actually in a pack of about 15 cars in practice. That sh*t gives me total anxiety. You very much get a sense of speed with the VR rig on and putting the nose of your car almost under the rear wing of the car in front of you yet sorta ignoring that car and focusing on what track/road markers you can see to stay on your line is crazy.
I finally had my first win! (and met the requirements to get out of Rookie class on Dirt Ovals). It was a win based mostly on decent qualifying and huge attrition, but I'm good with that LOL. I had to cut the player audio out as there were a few grown men pretty much yelling at each other for ..well wrecks happen. I didn't think dirt oval would be much fun as I didn't think there was anything to it. Just go in a circle. I very much didn't appreciate the subtleties of how to choose a line based upon the track conditions.
Anyhow, P1!!!! LOL
