A while back, it was posted that Guardian Thunder, Volume 5 in the Guardian Series, would be released in 2016.

Due to the complex nature of the on-going mystery, Guardian Thunder has required more time to write than I had first imagined.

The critical editing process is now in full swing. Transforming any manuscript into a finished publication requires the combined effort of a skilled team, and our working goal is to have Guardian Thunder released prior to the Christmas holidays.

I am genuinely humbled by the warmth and interest which everyone has shown toward me and my many friends, especially Shey, Roan, Zorn, Susie, Gepeto, William, Sheba, Kellon, Lan, Amada, Chandara, Elayne, McRoy, and more recently Shanti. Although imaginary, my friends have also proven to be the good friends of many of my readers, and that is the best possible reward that can be granted to a weaver of tales. "Guardian Thunder" is the fifth book of the Guardian series, and it is also the natural conclusion of the series. The tale is now complete. Like all good endings, it offers many possible beginnings. Still, like Frodo, I have also learned caution. A beginning sentence, like Frodo's first step on a road, can lead to a most unanticipated and astonishing tale.

I found this a great story, and continuation to the series. I was initially a bit reluctant because it is some what dearer than most kindle books. So I originally only purchased the first part. That was more than enough, I was hooked. The day after I finished I bought the next two, a decision I haven't regretted.

The series is full of captivating characters, human, alien and a.i., and suitably bad enemies. There is also a continuing mystery about humanity, and its place in the galaxy. Topped off with rousing space battles. All in all a very addictive mix, one I can thoroughly recommend.

Recently, a reader of the Guardian series asked me what inspired the character of Susie's personal AI, William. I thought the answer to the inquiry might prove of interest to other readers.

Being blind, I utilize a screen reader whenever writing and interacting with my computer. The program I use is called WINDOWEYES, and it offers a variety of different possible voices. Because of my computer's constant vocal responses, and its occasional blithering, I began to call it William. The name simply seemed to suit the synthesized voice. Naturally, when the starring role for a personal AI opened, I immediately cast my old friend and confident, William, in the leading part.

I confess that William has become one of my favorite characters. He is the epitome of selfless innocent, as are all of the young in spirit and playful Guardian AIs. The AIs delightful qualities of open honesty and innocence are inseparable from their core sense of loyalty and duty. Throughout the series, the evolution of the AIs is one of the underlying harmonies nestled within the whole of the tale. Like other readers, I am also looking forward to see just where the Guardian journey will carry all of us, including the AIs. It remains an adventure.

I hope that my brief explanation answers the question of just how William sprang forth from the Eddie currents of universal consciousness. It remains my earnest hope that everyone enjoys reading the series, since that is precisely why I wrote and continue to write it.

COMING DECEMBER 2013
Far from Tearmann, within three solar systems, on the three governing Kreel Hub planets, the Kreel Elite and their Marshalls had finalized and begun to execute their plans to expand their Empire. Their massive assembled Armada was then staging for its departure and conquest of multiple solar systems. The decision where and when the armada would first strike was firmly set. As an arrow shot from a compound bow, once launched, that armada would not be turning back.

By fate and circumstance, five battle weary Guardian cruisers found themselves far from home and position to oppose the main thrust of the Kreel Invasion. Their new orders were to make a stand. While Waiting for promised resupply, and the vague assurance of whatever limited additional Guardian cruisers HQ might be able to send, the desperate defenders began seeking an elusive tactical edge that might permit them to survive the upcoming battle.

As the five cruisers were bracing for battle, nearly one-hundred light years distant, a single Guardian cruiser on deep reconnaissance was executing its final two acts. Having come under attack by an elite Kreel force, outnumbered, and heavily damaged, the cruiser's single surviving crew was the ship's AI. Sending a Cobalt Blue encrypted message detailing its pending self-destruction, with its final defiant act it destroyed its remaining attackers, and itself. Contained within its Cobalt Blue message was a mystery that once solved would reshape Guardian Force, and draw it deep within the Kreel Empire on a covert Intelligence Probe in force. What could possibly go wrong?

As 2013 approaches its stage exit, I want to express my appreciation to all my readers who have enjoyed with me the expanding adventures of the Guardian Quest series. One of my primary reasons for writing the series is my own enjoyment in exploring the boundless realms of imagination. A second reason is to create a worthy tale and a good read that others will also enjoy. I've found the positive response to my first two volumes, Guardian Force and Earth Guardian, rewarding and gratifying. To my readers, I say thank you!

By now, I hope you're aware Galaxy Quest Books has announced the release of volume three: Guardian Probe. The new eBook will be available in December, and the trade paperback edition will soon follow in January. Since I'm also caught up in the unfolding saga of the Guardian Quest series, I want to know just how the story continues. Therefore, as the fourth volume unfolds before me, I find myself deep in Kreel country with Shey, Roan, and Zorn, and they are in perilous straits...
