Rhonda Massie was one of the original pioneers of Virtual Reality technology along with her husband. They co-invented technology together. It’s not being widely reported since it isn’t widely known but they are a few of the primary architects of VR technology itself. The media should do a better job of highlighting her significance as a technologist & engineer of computer science instead of just framing her as the wife of a Congressman. She’s a big part of the reason why products like the Meta Quest exist or are even possible. She’s one of the most significant figures in the history of Computer Science.

The lens appears attached to an EOS R7, indicating that it is likely designed to be used with APS-C cameras, although this is unconfirmed.”

Canon is making more dual-lens optics.

A lot of people don’t know this but Representative Thomas Massie from Kentucky is one the pioneers of VR. He is generally considered to be one of the top computer scientists in the world. He was developing haptic VR tech at MIT while I was developing interactive 360 degree videos at WKU (we are both from Kentucky). Here are the various patents attached to his name.

“The project involves two types of technology, including photogrammetry, which uses a camera to take successive photos of a structure, then uses structure-from-motion software to stitch the photos together to make a 3D digital replica, OSU explained. The project also uses laser scanning, including lidar technology, to record millions of points per second and measure the shape and location of the structure at a high resolution. The researchers set up laser scanners on tripods around and inside each building to capture 3D panoramas from different angles and sent a large drone 300 feet into the sky to take aerial photos.”

I would loosely define “prejournalism” as the act of starting a cultural trend before you report upon it. Not to be confused with “metajournalism” which is journalism about journalism. The prejournalism requires an understanding of chaos theory, the domino effect, the butterfly effect, as well as viral marketing. More experimentally, generative AI can be used to help prejournal cultural movements. And I am going to prove it.

NPR’s imploding 💥

NPR has suspended Senior Editor Uri Berliner after he wrote an essay accusing the public radio network of becoming too progressive in its news coverage and losing the public's trust.
