st to a plethora of high profile universities, colleges, and art schools with well-known photography programs. These schools, typically private, boast of wonderful equipment, opportunity, and community outreach with the intention of helping students slide fluidly through a standard four year education into some division of the local art scene. Though these aspects of education are not to be taken for granted, not every institution can offer the same sorts of possibilities. San Francisco State University’s photography program is, to be blunt, underfunded and overlooked. Without representation, without funding, without extraneous equipment, and without a voice, the students who attend and pass through SFSU are incomparably dedicated to their practice. Much of the work is mature and disciplined, speaking of aesthetics, issues of social class, gender, race, abstraction, sexuality, and everything in between. From us, to you,
