Gen-Z has grown up with the ability to share content with its local and global community and now, the gap between online and offline is smaller than ever before. It comes as no surprise that for this generation identity and technology are intertwined.

So, what inspires them? What medium do they use for self-expression? And how does social media affect them, in good and bad ways? We asked multiple Gen-Z youths how they express their critical thinking, ambition and heritage through their online/offline identities and self-expression.

We feel lost amidst chaos and uncertainty; the world seems so discouraging; injustice and violence rule; and nature is sending us messages of tension. We are witnessing a moment of significant readjustment, where the priorities of humankind must change to create a true structural switch.

IT IS A PRIVILEGE TO BE ABLE TO EXPERIENCE FREEDOM. In whichever sense of the word, freedom is something we all seek. Expanding on the way freedom of appearance is being perceived lately, and as opposed to the body freedom attitude, where we expose our sexuality freely, we have ‘covering up’. Some women find power in showing less and dressing in modest non-exposing and non-shaping clothing while using accessories as a way of amping up an outfit.

After all the covid-19 restrictions and the stress cost of living through a pandemic, we need adrenaline!
There will be a rise in healthy and unhealthy thrill-seeking. People will be looking for that feeling of euphoria. Current trends in fashion and music are heavily influenced by this adrenaline- driven lifestyle. American hardcore bands making a comeback, along with their aesthetic. Another major one is the Motomami trend, heavily influenced by Y2K fashion and Japanese anime.
