As a your social media manager I'm not simply scheduling your posts... I'm constantly monitoring current Meta best practices and trends and applying them in a way that serves your business goals AND your ideal client.

My content strategies can help you: grow your page, boost your engagement, build a community, and even get people over to your website. This is not a "one size fits all" approach: Each of my clients receives a customized strategy to fit THEIR specific business needs.

So let's talk about this screenshot: May was the first (full) month of me owning the organic content strategy for this client's page... and to tell you the truth, it didn't take a major overhaul to get these results!

Here's what I did:

1. Talked with the client about their social media goals to make sure the content served that goal. In their case, they needed people clicking on links to their website.

2. Consistently posted once a day on the account + I paid close attention to what Meta told me were "active times" for their audience.

3. 98% of what I posted was a static graphic or a photograph; only two Reels went up that month!

4. I spent A LOT of time on the captions for each post: kept the ideal client in mind, included keywords, made sure every post had a clear call to action, and added links when appropriate.

So if you're sick and tired of trying to figure out what Meta wants, or you don't have the time and energy to post consistently, let's chat and find the best package for you. Comment on this post, send me a message, or email me at [email protected] to discuss a:

- Content Audit
- Customized Content Plan
- or Full Service Social Media Package

It's been a few weeks since I last posted, and I'm starting to get concerned tags + messages - so I wanted to quickly hop on and assure everyone: all is well! 🧡

This is the first summer in four years that I'm not working the hours that someone else has set for me: I get to decide when + where I work, and that often looks like this photo... a working session at the pool with my girls 😉

Long story short: I'm being much more intentional with how I spend my energy, because there's only so much energy to go around. So when it comes to social media energy, I spend it on my client's accounts first! Just because I'm not posting here, doesn't mean I'm not posting somewhere else 👀

So let me get you caught up on how I've been spending my energy since my last post:

- Pool working sessions for local businesses. In fact, one of my clients saw a 150% increase in Reach during the month of June 🥳
- Trips to the Zoo
- Home reno projects
- More sleep
- Tequila Tuesday with friends
- Softball games
- Sports Camps... the list goes on!

Get me caught up in the comments: How has the beginning of summer been for you? Are you being intentional with how you're spending your time / energy? Do you need me to debunk any new social media rumors you're seeing floating around?

And when I say ANYTHING, I mean it! 😉 You can ask me about social media marketing, content plans, Reels, Stories, or even what my favorite dessert is 😂

I'll be checking in throughout the day to answer questions!

Last week in my stories I asked you to tell me what you sell / what industry you were in and that I'd provide you with some original content ideas! I picked a few that encompassed the most common responses, and then started making some lists. 📋

Online shoppers are getting savvy:

- They want to see products in action
- They want to see how your products could fit into their life (or on their body),
- And, they want to trust that you know what you're talking about

You'll notice that I didn't always specify how you deliver these content ideas (photos, videos, graphics)... and that's because every audience is different. It's up to you to experiment with different content formats to find out what your audience likes the most!

Which one of these ideas will you be using in your future content plans? 👀

Struggling to come up with a content plan on your own? I can create a personalized content plan (with templates) for your business! Simply fill out this form to get started: https://kelsieruoff.com/cprequest

💡 Hot tip: All Meta metrics are tied together. If one of them is off, the rest will soon follow. By understanding HOW they're all tied together, you'll be able to pinpoint what parts of your content need editing.

Eeeeeverything starts with a healthy engagement rate: are your posts getting likes, comments, and shares? If 4-10% of your followers are engaging, your Meta channel is considered healthy! 👏

For example: Let's say your page has 100 followers. I would expect each of your posts to have between 4-10 likes, comments and/or shares. And if your posts weren't hitting that type of engagement, I'd start digging through your content + captions to see what was wrong. Nine times out of 10, it's that the content isn't relevant to the audience and/or it's missing a strong call to action so that the audience understands how they're supposed to engage.

If you're struggling with improving your Meta metrics, bring me on board for a content review! I'll dig through your metrics + content and provide you with multi-page report that includes tactical feedback on what to change (or start doing) in your content.

It’s been such a joy to join this team of awesome women and help with their social media!

It combines multiple passions of mine: social media + supporting local businesses and the awesome Loveland community. 💕

Meet the (growing) Loveland Lifestyle Team! 🥳

-----

💻 PUBLISHER: Emily Barlow (far right) is our Publisher, and has been with the magazine since it's launch 5.5 years ago!

She is responsible for: Bringing on new partners; managing ads for partner; helping to grow and create awareness for local businesses in the area; working on content with the editor; making connections with businesses and people in the area; distribution; and managing our awesome, growing team.

Favorite Place to Eat in Loveland: "Our family's favorite place is Paxton's. Last year when their patio was hit by a car my daughter drew a picture of her favorite Paxton's meal and left it outside their door. It is now framed on the wall in the restaurant."

Outside of the magazine she enjoys: reading British thrillers/mysteries; watching old movies; going to the theater; walking or riding on the bike trail; and going out to dinner and eating a great meal with her family.

-----

✍️ EDITOR: Steph Meinberg (second from right) is our Editor, and also a contributing writer + photographer. She has been with the magazine from day one!

She is responsible for: Ensuring all articles, photos, captions and more are not only error-free and correct, but are written and presented in a smart, savvy, elevated style. "I'm extremely proud of the super high level of truly artistic and original work that we produce, month after month."

Favorite Place to Eat in Loveland: "Tahona is my fave for margs and tacos! Cappy's patio with a cold craft beer is pretty amazing (the Bagel & Deli Truck there doesn't hurt either!). Close second is Teak ... with the new DVD Brewery close behind."

Outside of the magazine she enjoys: "I'm a voracious reader. I love hiking at the Cincy Nature Center and along the Bike Trail with my doggo, Scout (featured in the May issue with Zoomin Groomin). I'm a serious hockey fan (Red Wings forever, I play in a "beer league," my 15yo plays for St. X). Born and raised in Kansas City, so you know I'm a fan of "that" team. Sorry, Bengals."

-----

📱SOCIAL MEDIA: Kelsie Ruoff (third from the right) is our new social media lead, having just joined the team last month!

She is responsible for: Content curation across our Facebook + Instagram feeds.

Favorite Place to Eat in Loveland: "Whenever we have family in town to visit, they demand a visit to Kirby's for some gravy tots! We also enjoy hitting up Paxton's or Ramsey's as a family. I've spent many a "moms night out" at Teak since it opened!"

Outside of the magazine she enjoys: "Most of my time these days is spent on a youth sports field - I coach my oldest's soccer team, and cheer on my youngest at her various activities!"

-----

💲 SALES SUPPORT DIRECTOR: Courtney Kraemer (far left) has been with the magazine for three years, and before Kelsie came on board last month, was also handling our social media!

She is responsible for: Reaching out to local businesses in the community for potential to partner with our publication; contributing top 10 local experiences for monthly issues; collecting and writing captions for City Scene; setting up appointments with prospective partners; creating marketing materials for Loveland Lifestyle such as cards, ads, branding materials, client gifts, etc.; event planning; creating press releases; and finding sponsorship opportunities for Loveland Lifestyle.

We're a few months into 2024 and the social media landscape is shifting: and I think that's a good thing!

Gone are the days where you have to post multiple times a day in order to see growth or engagement: we are seeing Meta algorithms favor accounts that post steadily, and consistently... and that doesn't have to be multiple times a day!

I have a client that went from posting every day (sometimes multiple times a day), to me now posting 3-5 times a week for them with value-driven content that delivers what their audience is looking for -> and they're seeing amazing results! They have 900 page followers and with this new posting plan we're seeing:

- A cumulative Reach of 6K+ unique people a month (a 35% increase for them)
- 3.1K unique page Visits (a 78% increase for them)

Repeat after me: You do not need to be a content producing machine! Slow down, and start putting more emphasis on the value behind your content. Consider this your permission to find a posting rhythm that feels right, FOR YOU.

If you're posting multiple times a day and still getting the results you want - fantastic! But if you're posting a ton of content and NOT getting the results you want, it's time to take a step back and rethink your strategy.

If you need help with building that strategy, holler! I've got room for a few clients heading into summer and I'd love to help you come up with a content plan that fits your business + social media goals. 🩷

Anyone else feeling a little stunned that today is May 1st? 😳

I know you're probably juggling A LOT at this time of year (especially all my business owning parents), so here are some content prompts to take the guesswork out of what to post over the next few weeks!

You'll notice a lot of "story" posts 👀 Sharing stories is one of the BEST ways to connect with your community, and yet - it's not something I see a lot of businesses doing! How did your business start? What's your mission? Are you out serving your community in any way? Make sure you're talking about it in your social media posts!

We also have a giant holiday coming up at the end of the month. If you'll have any specials, or your operating hours will be unique that weekend... don't wait until the last minute to tell people about it! Sprinkle those reminders in all month long.

Save this for later, and then share it with all your biz besties!

Are you asking your community to engage in every way possible? Did you know that not every type of engagement is created equal (at least in the Meta algorithm's eyes)? 👀

Right now, the algorithm places more value on a "share" than a "like"... but, why? Let's think about how you yourself engage with content: you probably "like" more things than you "share"... you're only sharing things that REALLY resonate with you, or that REALLY entertain you.

So while asking people to "like or comment if..." is pretty easy, and is a great way to get engagement started, it's time to start working up to those shares! Go back and look at things that you've recently shared and start brainstorming how you could replicate those types of posts for your own business.

I'm always surprised when someone tells me they don't know what to post in their Stories... because, you guys: they are SO FUN. 😍

Here are a few things you should know about Stories:

1. They are temporary, and only stick around for 24 hours. Less pressure, right?

2. They are shown to your current audience (people already following you). That means that only people that already know and love you are seeing them, so everything we're posting in our Stories should be about nurturing those folks.

3. They aren't meant to be super fancy or perfect - Instagram has said numerous times that they're supposed to be casual and in the moment (it's why they don't want to give you a scheduling option for them). Again, less pressure!

4. You don't need to post 20 of them in a day! In fact, Instagram has said 3-5 Stories a day is the best amount for audience engagement.

5. Instagram has all kinds of fun engagement stickers to take the guesswork out of Stories: question boxes, polls, photo sharing, and more!

This graphic gives you a few ideas on how to get started in your Stories... which one are you going to try this week? 👀

I'm going to start with the bad news first: there is no "magical time" to post that works for everyone... that'd be nice though, right?

Now for the good news: I have some tips on how you can find your own best posting time!

Here's what I want you to consider:

1. Will you be available to engage with any comments or shares at the time your post is going up? Engagement in the first 24 hours is the most critical, but if you can be on and going back/forth with folks in the first few hours - even better!

2. What's a time of day where your audience is (probably) scrolling on their phone? For example, if your audience is full of parents you probably don't want to post something at dinner time, because they're busy feeding their kids.

3. Do your Meta analytics have any helpful information about "best times to post"? This data will only be available if your account is more established, and if you've been posting consistently for a while - you'll be able to see it via Meta Business Suite.

Finding a good time to post also requires a willingness on your part to be flexible and experiment. Test out different times, on different days of the week, and see when you get better results!

⏰ What time of day do you typically post on Facebook and Instagram?

15/04/2024

Everyone and their mom is out there telling small businesses that their content needs to be valuable, but what does that actually MEAN?!

Valuable content should check a few boxes:

✅ It should be relevant to your audience.
✅ It should be easy to consume.
✅ It should have an intention to provide education, entertainment, inspiration, and/or connection.

Notice that I DIDN'T say valuable content needs to be perfectly branded, or meet Hollywood production standards... because if the content is valuable, your audience doesn't care if it's a little raw, or if you're in your bathrobe 🤷‍♀️

"But Kelsie, how do I even know if I'm hitting these boxes?!" You'll start seeing healthy engagement rates! But that's a conversation for another day 🙃

Which of these "boxes" do you feel you excel at, and which one are you struggling with? And let me give you a bonus tip... if you feel like any of them are a struggle, it's because you don't know your audience well enough (yet!). 👀

Make sure you save this post to reference the next time you're working on content, and then share it with a small biz bestie! 🩷

When I talk to small business owners about their social media content strategies most of them have hit content burnout. What led to that burnout? They're using outdated strategies...

❌ Things We're NOT Doing in 2024 ❌

- Trying to post something on every social media channel that exists.

- Posting multiple times a day on all those different social media channels.

- Worrying about how your feed looks vs. worrying about whether your content provides value and connection.

✨ Things we ARE Doing in 2024 ✨

- Deciding what kind of content we like to create (long-form, short-form, written, videos, photos, graphics) and then finding the platform that favors that type of content. You're less likely to burn out if you're on a channel that you actually enjoy creating content for.

- Posting 3-5 times a week per channel. Meta algorithms USED to care about quantity, and accounts that posted a sh*t ton of content saw a lot of success. NOW Meta algorithms care about quality, and they're favoring accounts with consistently high engagement (likes, comments, shares).

- We're going to stop putting so much emphasis on how our feed LOOKS, and start putting more energy into the VALUE behind our content. Is the post relevant to our audience, and do they get anything out of it (entertainment, education, connection)?

------

❓ What shifts are you making to your social media content strategies this year? Are you pulling back on how much you're posting? Have you moved to a new channel, or put more emphasis on a certain channel? Let's talk it out!

10/04/2024

For the last four years I coached small business owners on Meta content strategies while under someone else's roof... and at the time, I honestly thought that was going to be enough for me.

But, in a series of weird and unfortunate events my position was eliminated and I was left wondering what I wanted to be when I grew up...

Over the past month, messages have been pouring in:

- "Are you ok?"

- "What are you going to do now?"

- "Are you going to open your own business?"

- "Where should I go for content help?"

And at first, I didn't have the answers: I didn't know if I was ok, or what I was going to do, or where to send all these people I'd been working with for content help in the future...

But then an old friend heard about my job loss, reached out for a coffee date, and gently pushed me off the ledge with a business offer...

So today I can answer some of your questions:

- Yes, I am ok. I have a vision, and I'd love for you to join me on the journey to seeing it through.

- I'm going to continue helping small businesses develop Meta content strategies.

- I am opening my own social media management business (it's all happening very fast, so stay tuned!).

- You can hang out here for all kinds of Meta content help. 🩷
