The first cry of the new born baby are a pause in the music the little child is given its due to vent out it's pent up fustration from the silence of the womb. It is important to note that the African knew the importance of that first cry, sometimes the midwives used slaps to induce it. Several things made it neccessary. One it showed that the baby was hale and could react to changes of circumstances eg from the comfort warm of the womb to the harsh open world with its various new energies, breath,movement. It is imperative that one should notice that through all this those outside would be still in anticipation. And at times like these the pause caused by the silence of the mother, they all also pause their E-music. Music only resumes if life is detected in the child. This very important because the music masters the griots have to get the context of their next songs. Sometimes unfortunately its human nature there comes things like still births or births that are detriment to the mother. Some kill both mom and child, some leaves either but one dies and some leaves some with the child with special talents some in the negative some in the positive.
