Rhymoi Music was founded in 2003 by producer, composer and graphic artist Ye Yuanchun (叶云川) with a singular goal clearly set in mind: to bring the beauty and diversity of China's rich tapestry of musical and cultural traditions to music lovers everywhere. The journey began with a conceptual bang: “Bamboo Banquet” (竹宴)(2003), an album of contemporary arrangements of pan-Asian traditional songs and newly composed original works scored ONLY for instruments made of bamboo. The extraordinary critical response could not have been anticipated: never before had such a novel concept for an album been developed with such artistry in China. Ye has continued to lead us on a thrilling voyage of discovery throughout China's vast cultural landscape, introducing new listeners to some of today's most exciting young artists, each a master of their craft.
