Resident's of Karinga holds peaceful demos to protest the poor state of Ikumbi-Karinga-Kagunduini, Ikumbi-Karinga-Gathegetho road

Kinyona residents have decried the poor state of the road that was launched by President William Ruto June last year.

The demonstration have taken place despite the area police and local authority withdrawal of earlier permits to allow peaceful procession citing security intelligence.

Karinga's Massive Chairperson in a communication to its members yesterday, said, " Dear KM members,
We had tasked Dr. JC Mugachia to be our contact person in organizing our road procession for 20-4-2024, 10 am to 1 pm.

On 16/4/2024 at 4.30pm, he was called to a security meeting
led by the ACC (Assistant County Commissioner) and OCS (Officer Commanding Station) Kangare regarding our procession.

Report: The meeting, held at the ACC's office, informed him that our procession had been cancelled due to serious security concerns of violence by rivals.

Apparently the rivals (identity not disclosed) said they believed our protest was politically motivated veiled as a development issue.

They had allegedly notified their protest at the same venue and time as ours at Kigumo Police Division.

The ACC said in light of the confrontation this week in Kigumo, the security teams were very alert to possible violence.

The security team said they had made the cancellation based on the adverse intelligence they had gathered.

The ACC advised we use alternative means to get our issue heard and addressed.

Any person attending our procession will be engaging in an unlawful protest at the risk of police action.

The ACC said he was willing to meet our team on a week day, hear and act on our grievances.

The OCS was to give us the letter of cancellation with the reason for the action. We are still waiting for that letter.

However, we must sustain the pressure to have the road tarmacked, to save us from the social and economic suffering."

Kairo FC scoop 1 millions shilling after a win

Kairo FC pocketed Ksh. 1 million after hammering Nyagiti 3-0, in a tournament sponsored by Mathioya Constituency MP Dr. Edwin Mugo, in the finals of Edwin Mugo Super Cup finals held at Rurii Stadium in Kiru Ward, Mathioya Constituency.

Murang'a County MP Betty Maina who was among the invited guests said, "I enjoyed watching the match. We will continue encouraging and supporting youths to engage in such sports as a way of avoiding drugs and other illegal activities."

The runners-up Nyagiti FC scooped half a million.

Murang'a Senator Joe Nyutu attended the match also.

The area MP who sponsored the tournament promised to continue supporting the youths.

The Senator said, " Sports is one among the numerous ways of ensuring that we have a society free of alcohol, drug and substance use.
All leaders must stump out and protect the future of our youthful generation."
