2023 has been memorable for a lot of reasons but getting my citizenship in the same year I had my baby has to be one of my top faves. I came to this country as an only child at the age of 16 as an international student. Similar to a lot of you, that journey was mainly riddled with unending visa applications and making sure I was in good standing to remain in the country. It was also very difficult watching people who came after me getting their citizenship but I knew that my time would come. I don’t know what my life would have looked like if I remained in Nigeria but I’m ultimately happy that I came to Canada. I have met so many people over the years that have now became my chosen family in the absence of my immediate family. I have been able to build my professional career and exceed some of my professional goals and most importantly, I now have the privilege of growing my own family here all as Canadian citizens. It can really only be God! Finally, if you’re still waiting for a breakthrough in your immigration journey, embrace everything that comes with the experience and we’ll be celebrating with you soon 🤍💚

*We're closed*

I hope the first quarter of the year has been going well for all of you. I would like to officially let everyone know that The Diasporic Nigerian will be closing for the rest of the year. This has been a very difficult decision to make but I strongly believe this is the right decision at the moment.

Over the past year, I have juggled being a full-time graduate student, working full-time, working an additional part-time job all while trying to still provide TDN services. While I love nothing more than being of service to my Nigerian community, I have to prioritize my academic and professional goals at this time.

Thank you all for being so understanding. I can’t wait to come back and serve you better. Stay blessed.

We appreciate you all. That being said, we would really love to get some feedback from you through our Year end survey so we can improve on our programming and services next year. Please visit the link in our bio to fill out the survey. To say thank you, we will also be giving out $50 gift cards to three of you. Can’t wait to hear from you folks. Thank you again and see you in the new year.

Hello TDN fam!

Today marks the 1 year anniversary of the Lekki Toll Gate Massacre. Last year we took to the streets in a March of solidarity for those we lost. As a nation, Nigeria still has a long way to go in ending police brutality & other forms of oppression . As we try to move forward, let's always remember the lives that were lost that day and keep fighting to
