“Who are those people in your life, dead or alive, who have helped you become a better person?”
This morning, I came across a LinkedIn post that really got me thinking about the people who have played a significant role in shaping who I am today.
The post I saw was by someone sharing the news of their mentor's passing and reflecting on the lessons they had learned from them.
It instantly reminded me of the individuals, dead and alive, who have contributed to who I am today.
I thought of my Grandpa who taught me the profound value of words and the impact they can have on others.
I thought of my late uncle who taught me the importance of being unapologetically oneself.
I thought of my birth mom who taught me a lesson that I'll never forget – the power of forgiveness.
I thought of my 6th-grade teacher who taught me how to speak English.
I thought of my close friends who continue to teach me the importance of showing up for one another, no matter the circumstances.
I thought of my college professors who taught me the importance of taking chances on others.
I thought of my dog who continues to remind me on the daily basis to slow down and appreciate the simple joys in life.
All of these individuals have contributed to the person I've become.
They've shaped my values, beliefs, and outlook on life.
And for that, I say, “Thank you!” to every single one of them.
