Horros, the third album by VIRTA is out today via Svart Records 🪐

VIRTA, the Helsinki based trio of Erik Fräki, Antti Hevosmaa and Heikki Selamo are
releasing their long-awaited third album Horros, set to drop on October 6th, 2023 via Svart Records.

With Horros, Virta build on and take into new terrain the questing, jazz-tinged
electroacoustic adventures of their last album, 2016’s Hurmos, and its predecessor,
2012 debut Tales From Deep Waters. Still recognisable as who they were, the Virta
of 2023 now delves further than ever before into their inner world to craft their most
affecting, most atmospheric and most cinematic music to date while staying
emotionally resonant.

Horros, although not explicitly stated, has a narrative drive. “It is as if you are arriving on a strange planet,” explains Erik. “The opening feels like entering some kind of unfamiliar atmosphere which you come through to see a landscape. Then the exploring begins and the landscape starts to open up a little. When the album’s second side is reached, the mood is warmer, you understand where you are.” The album’s cover image portrays how the seemingly impenetrable atmosphere appears
on reaching this world.

"Horros" will be available on all major streaming platforms as well as on vinyl and
CD, which can be purchased through the Svart Records web store and select
retailers starting October 6th, 2023.

With loops, his multi-layered music merges circular motifs, industrial roaring and a dynamic sensibility sporadically taking the wild side of Vivaldi’s Four Seasons into dark territories."

Estonia’s Mart Avi styles himself as “the twilight samurai of alternative pop”. He creates “nowhere-somewhere music, mapping uncharted territories between avant-pop and timeless grandeur”. The characterisations are issued via AVICORP, his internet presence.

"What is supposed to be a club music venue suddenly turns into a gothic realm where violinist and composer Elia Lombardini performs lush instrumental pieces. Using a loop station, the Finnish-Italian musician creates a water column of sound, simultaneously minimalist and polyphonic.
