One of the few constants of this dynamic craft beer industry is camaraderie. This sense of community is especially strong in Southern California, and we’re honored to have a front row seat to it here as brewers nominate their picks for the 2025 San Diego Beer News Awards Hoppy Beer - Non-IPA category.

Last year’s winner, Burgeon Beer Company Carlsbad Crush, is nominated over and over again— and for good reason.

Carlsbad Crush is clean drinking, refreshing, and bursting with Mosaic hops that transport us to the tropics. This banger was brewed with the goal to express the full flavors and mouthfeel of West Coast hoppy ales with a sessionable ABV… Nailed it!

A favorite day on the job captured. 📸

A late summer Friday in 2023 when we recorded Episode 5 of the RadCraft Industry Relief podcast with Kristen Langton Muraro… and we both brought each other flowers.

We’re proud to report that the North American Guild of Beer Writers gave our podcast an honorable mention in the Podcast category of their 2024 awards. What an honor for our scrappy little project!

Big thanks to the Guild and the judges, and to everyone out there who has listened to RadCraft Industry Relief. We’re flattered to receive this recognition from our peers in craft beverage storytelling.

Julie Rhodes, a returning guest, will share digital marketing automation tools and best practices that can support your sales funnel on Friday, November 15 at noon Mountain.

With more than 20 years of experience in the food and beverage industry, Julie is an expert in beverage sales, digital marketing, distributor management, and business strategy. As the owner of Not Your Hobby Marketing Solutions, she provides fractional consulting services for small and medium-sized craft beverage companies, teaching them to work smarter, not harder. A freelance business journalist, public speaker, and 2023 Brewers Association (BA) Mentor of the Year, Julie also serves on the BA’s DEI Committee and instructs in craft beer business programs at multiple universities.

Earlier this year, I (Em Hutto) gathered with Riverbend Malt House and several of their brewery customers to learn more about small grains agriculture from the experts managing the land, which include the barley and wheat fields, at Biltmore in Asheville. It was thrilling to see brewers gathered ‘round, entranced by the grain stocks in the wind (swipe to see ‘em), asking thoughtful questions while they connected the dots to their brewhouses.

As I type, much of Western North Carolina and Eastern Tennessee are in disaster response mode, reacting to the catastrophic destruction of . The North Carolina Craft Brewers Guild has enacted several flood relief initiatives, including the campaign. Dssolvr has launched .calling.beer to support the NC Craft Brewers Guild as well.

If you have the capacity to support from afar with a beer for your neighbors, a relief donation, or even a social media share about how others can help— I encourage you to do so. I especially endorse brewing your next beer with Riverbend malt so that your dollars directly support farmers across the Southeast ~ the agricultural backbone of the craft beer community in the impacted area.

This connection and traceability strengthens accessibility and communication along the supply chain, which ultimately makes the final products 𝚃𝙰𝚂𝚃𝙴𝚂 𝙱𝙴𝚃𝚃𝙴𝚁.

It started as a simple Zoom happy hour.

It became our container.

It morphed into a time machine for reflection.

It transformed into a time capsule of our lives.

It’s been a journey! Looking back, we’re damn glad we chose the scenic route.
