Charles has been directing and producing independent films and videos for nearly 20 years. Prince is known as a media educator, videographer, music video producer, and he has produced documentary projects that promote social, cultural and personal awareness. Prince was born in Elizabeth, New Jersey but he was raised in Cambridge, Massachusetts. He is known in the New England area for applying unus
ual non-traditional shooting methods in his work. He was nine years old when he videotaped his first production for his church--New Covenant Church of Cambridge in Waltham, Massachusetts. When Prince was 13 years old, he had an opportunity to intern at Cambridge Community Public Access TV where he was given professional training to understand the fundamentals of producing TV shows and covering Live local community events in Massachusetts. As a freshman, Prince attended Cambridge Rindge & Latin High School in Massachusetts. Prince then moved to Virginia Beach, Virginia and attended First Colonial High School. When Prince was a junior, he was enrolled in a dual academic program. He attended academic courses in the morning at First Colonial and in the afternoon continued his education at Virginia Beach Technical Career Center located in Virginia Beach, Virginia. While Prince was in high school he interned at Virginia Beach Television-Channel 48, Virginia Beach, Virginia. He helped News Producers with studio productions. Prince continued to seek advanced internship experience at WVEC-Channel 13 an ABC World News affiliate located in Norfolk, Virginia. Prince served in many leadership positions in high school. He was President of the Video Club at First Colonial High School. Prince was awarded 1st place for a Reenactment R&B Music Video titled, “Your Letter.” Prince received an award through the Hampton Roads High School Communication Annual Audio-Video Competition. His production was broadcast on television in the state of Virginia in 2001. Prince received a technical diploma in Communication & TV Production and also a High School Diploma at First Colonia High School in June 2002. With Prince's accomplishments in high school and GPA, he was accepted to attend one of New England's top college. In June 2004, Prince received an Associate Science Degree in Video and Radio Production Technology from New England Institute of Technology. In March 2006, Prince received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Digital Recording Arts Technology. While in college, Prince had a college credit internship at CRI Communications in Providence, Rhode Island. Prince was able to produce promotional business commercials that were aired on TV in the state of Rhode Island. As a freelancer Prince had an opportunity to capture live shows with industry and independent hip hop, R&B, Open Mic shows in the New England. Prince has a reputable portfolio of shows: Keyshia Cole, Joe Budden, Max B., Mickey Factz and other independent local artists. Prince began working full time in Public Access TV station and training young people in the community how to produce shows and operate studio equipment. Prince had an opportunity to educate young people from being passive consumers of media to become active media producers. Prince's video production work in the community with his students is recognized for its creative positive approach. Prince was awarded The Alliance for Community Media and Northeast Regional Video Festival. Prince also won an award from the youth program that he trained in 2007 Documentary Profile, 2007 PEG Promo/Public Service Announcement, 2008 PEG Promo, 2009 Diversity Empowerment/Documentary. Prince taught youth from Somerville, Cambridge, Everett, Chelsea, Malden, Boston and other areas of the country the fundamentals of video production. Through an intensive hands-on curriculum, Prince guided students through a process of self-discovery and self-representation. Through hands-on instruction with state-of-the-art digital media production equipment and facilities, the youth Prince has taught learned how media messages influence attitudes, behavior and acquired the skills needed to create media projects that communicate their own ideas to the broader community. Prince's productions are first screened in the communities where they are produced and later broadcast on Public Access TV Stations, festivals and the social media community. After more than a decade of collaborations working with youth, Prince and youth producers created a wide range of productions and many of them have been acclaimed and won prizes and featured at festivals and aired on broadcast TV networks. Taking full advantage of his talents and abilities, Prince juggles between his work schedule and serving his community and he definitely understands that success is as much the result of hard work as it is of natural ability. Prince aspires to teaching youth the technical aspects of video production while cultivating creativity, collaborative learning, and critical thinking to utilize technology as a tool for transformation. Prince is endowed with many talents, great personality. And yes, having a great personality is a gift—some people do not possess that gift. He is definitely more than a star on the rise; he is a Director/Producer in the making. Prince does not believe that one must be compensated with monetary gifts to serve the community. Sometimes volunteering has a greater impact than checks in the bank. Prince cares deeply about giving back and making a difference in the lives of all people.
