The MissStory http://www.TheMissStory.com A new media platform and forum for women to come together to share, c***e I had had enough and knew I had to do something. Dawn

Welcome to The MissStory!

“The World will be saved by the Western Woman.” –Dalai Lama

I set out to create a new online media platform for Women for a number of reasons. Most importantly, I found the images and messages in the media today to be hyperfocused on a Woman’s looks and her sexuality and I think we are in a serious crisis. Women’s bodies are used to sell everything in our consumer drive

n society and as a result all of us are getting a flat, one dimensional image of what it means to be a female. Our young girls are starving themselves, getting invasive plastic surgeries in an elusive pursuit of perfection or have given up entirely and are becoming dangerously overweight. We are spending an exorbitant amount of time obsessing over how we look, how we dress, how many calories we have eaten, how to be sexier and how to get that guy(or girl) to notice us. We are driving our young women into an emotional abyss as if the only thing of value is the physical body. After looking around the web, it became clear to me that there just is not a comprehensive place online for Women to honestly dig into the issues that affect us most today. Sure there are a few news sites that have a “Woman’s Section”, but not a comprehensive site that is entirely devoted to just us, with empowering messages and a way to interact, c***ect, network and take action on the things that matter most. There is an old adage united we stand, divided we fall and it is just as important to Women as it is to a country. I have felt an incredible sense of bewilderment and infuriation at the hands of political leaders in the US in recent months. The incessant repetition from the mainstream media like some underlying evil mantra being chanted in the back of your head, always the same, always different, and always telling you ‘You’re not good enough’. I found myself shaking my head and asking myself… what year is this again? My answer…Feminism 2.0. Knowing it is futile to try to change a whole system; I set out to do the only thing that COULD be done… build something new that renders the old system obsolete. That is the primary goal with The MissStory.com, and I found twelve other extraordinary and brilliant ladies who also believe in the vision of offering a new and different media platform for Women. You will find each of them to have their own unique perspectives, gifts, talents and life experiences. I have given them complete editorial freedom to express their ideas and insights ANY way that they choose. Their articles are riveting, profound and inspiring. I want to be clear… this is NOT a ‘She-Girl Male Basher’s Club. It is about developing our greatest potential within ourselves. In order to do this…there will be no sacred cows. Archetypes are symbolic representations of human qualities; they are the language of the soul… that creative artist within each of us. The definition of what it means to be feminine is not one dimensional; it is dynamic, fluid and incredibly beautiful. Unfortunately we have been sold a very narrow definition of what it means to be a woman. The MissStory.com is designed to change all of that, we have created SEVEN archetypes that together make up the complete story of what it is to be a woman… the Princess, the Virgin, the Lover, the Mother, the Witch, the Sister and most importantly the Queen. Each of our articles with be linked to one of these articles. I invite you to participate and share your own stories, information, images, videos and knowledge with other Women on our FORUM where it is also divided up into each of these archetypes with every issue falling under one of them. You will find The MissStory to be real and honest. Some things may make you uncomfortable, I invite you to remain open and at least consider the ideas and views that will be shared. It is not necessary that you agree with everything. What IS important for all of us is that we have a sacred place that we can have the conversations. In the process, I think we will all learn, grow and do what the Dalai Lama said in the quote at the top of my letter….save the world. We are the mothers, lovers, daughters, wives, and sisters to the world and if we are only one dimensional the whole world misses out on our gifts and our TRUE BEAUTY. I think all of us are feeling that the old ways of doing things just are not working anymore. Our economy is failing and our governments are letting us down and imploding. And just like all of us, our greatest feminine body, Mother Nature herself is no exception to the crisis that is going on today: our air, water and soil are all being polluted, our forests are being destroyed, hundreds of animals are becoming extinct every day, corruption is everywhere we turn, our food is being altered with genetics and chemicals, our children and loved ones are getting all kinds of cancers and new diseases. The problem is we are disc***ected from a long lineage of ancient female wisdom of growing our own food, healing our families naturally, taking care of our land and the children on it, administrating the affairs of our communities and embracing and stepping into our intuitive, creative power. We can only be victims if we are bent over; it is time to stand up. In honor of Earth Day…I present to you The MissStory. I will leave you with one final thought…

What if the answer to all of the world’s problems was simply… WOMEN are the change we have been waiting for? From my heart to yours….
