A fresh set of Polaroids/digitals (still often referred to as ‘polas’ in the industry due to their historically-used Polaroid format) are your number one most important tool in getting signed by international agencies.
You would not believe the number of applications we receive every day that have no pictures attached!! Or if they do the pictures are sub-standard.
These do not need to be professionally shot but they do need to employ some care and diligence.
The model’s face and body must be well-lit, background needs to be reasonably plain (white is not always necessary, a brick wall is often fine too), the outfit should be basic and form-fitting and the pictures need to show the model from all angles, so a full set of full lengths from front, 3/4 angle, side and back, head to hips from all angles, and portraits too.
This is especially important if you are applying to agencies overseas. Don’t skimp these, they are literally the most important tool in your modelling arsenal!
