It's National Administrative Professionals Day and we've got one of the best. Peni is the glue that holds this place together. She's your typical mom, who always knows where everything is and makes sure we've eaten our lunch. She tries her best to keep us out of trouble and picks us up when we stumble. Peni always plans the best parties, knows how to make us laugh and is a fierce nerf war opponent, yet has a heart of gold. She is always there to support us in anyway possible. We love Peni and would be lost without her!

In addition to National Park Week, today kicks off National Volunteer Week! While we love celebrating our volunteers all year long, this week provides an opportunity to highlight the ways volunteers support our park.

Rocky is proud to host a team of knowledgeable volunteers who serve our visitors and protect the park. Meet Linda Koshio Rogers, a volunteer who has contributed over one thousand hours to a park she loves!

In Linda’s words, "One of the best things about being a volunteer at Rocky Mountain National Park is the training. You learn everything about the park: flora, fauna, history, culture, latest updates. My eyes continue to be opened wide-eyed as there is so much to learn and soak in… and in turn, I want to share it all! I love being first contact for visitors at the Kawuneeche Visitor Center and the Alpine Visitor Center. I hike as much as I can, so I can give first-hand accounts of trail conditions. Ask me what wildflowers are growing!"

Thank you to Linda and all of Rocky’s wonderful volunteers for their contributions!

I came across this moose the other day in Horseshoe Park. She had a young one with her. They raced across the road into the Endovalley. She briefly stopped to look around while I quickly made this photograph with a long lens. They are such shy and beautiful creatures.
