Booker T. Washington Center Celebrates Inaugural Bloom Ball

On September 19 the Booker Washington Community Center welcomed nearly 400 guests and supporters to the inaugural Bloom Ball fundraising gala. Hosted at San Francisco’s stylish Hotel Nikko, the event raised needed funds for the Center’s many community support and outreach programs.

Order of Malta Clinic Hosts Benefit Gala Overlooking the Golden Gate

The St Francis Yacht Club welcomed nearly 300 guests on September 24 to raise funds for the Order of Malta Clinic’s newly expanded free medical clinic. The 16th Annual Champions Gala also honored two of its greatest champions with this year’s Silver Chalice Awards. This year the honorees were the late Frank Heffernan, an icon in the San Francisco business world, and Santa Barbara’s Ken Olsen. The Silver Chalice Award is bestowed upon those that have done most to further the Clinic’s mission to help those in need.

15th Annual Silicon Valley African Film Festival Celebrates Stories of Africa

Two historic theaters in San Jose played host this year to one of the Bay Area’s buzziest cultural events: the Silicon Valley African Film Festival (SVAFF). Opening night on October 11 was held at the recently restored Hoover Theater in the Rose Garden neighborhood, while the closing ceremony was hosted by the beautiful Montgomery Theater on October 13. Both venues did justice to what is fast becoming a pillar of the Bay Area’s film festival lineup.

Benefactors of the de Young Museum got a first-look at what’s sure to be a highlight of the current exhibition season, with a special donor party to view a retrospective of renowned Art Deco artist Tamara Lempicka. On October 10, partygoers got to view more than 100 of de Lempicka’s colorful, stylized paintings and portraits, which are considered icons of that era.

San Jose Museum of Art Holds a Vibrant 2024 Gala

The San Jose Museum of Art (SJMA) opened its doors to art lovers from around the Bay for its September 21 gala. Held both on the Circle of Palms Plaza and inside the Museum itself, attendees enjoyed a lively celebration of contemporary art, fine food and live entertainment.

Cocktails and canapes were followed by an elegant, seasonal three-course dinner designed by Executive Chef Joe Derla for Signia by Hilton. The night’s program included a live auction and presentations made to two very special honorees. First up, the SJMA Visionary Award presented its inaugural prize to SJMA Trustee and past Board President Glenda Dorchak, in recognition of her many years of support and service to the museum.

SF Parks Alliance Hosts Party for the Parks Benefit at City’s Newest Park

Outdoors lovers and civic boosters of all stripes gathered on September 21 at San Francisco’s newest park, China Basin, to toast the region’s enviable parks system and raise some needed funds to keep the city’s green spaces thriving.

SF Parks Alliance hosted this year’s Party for the Parks at a spot overlooking China Basin’s beautiful waterfront view. More than 300 guests gathered to celebrate our parks and all they offer to the community, enjoying an open-air cocktail reception to kick off the night’s festivities. Attendees also enjoyed an elegant picnic themed evening at Pier 48, near the new park’s scenic grounds.

On October 9 the San Francisco Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with global consulting firm Accenture, invited the Bay Area’s future tech and business leaders to the Spark Conference to network and nosh at the Accenture Innovation Hub located in Salesforce Tower. Attendees gathered at the Innovation Hub, where they met their peers and explored cutting-edge leadership strategies, all while overlooking the Tower’s spectacular skyline views.

San Francisco Symphony Celebrates New Season with Beautiful Black and White Fete

Guests provided the main pops of color at SF Symphony’s season-opening gala on September 25. After the black and white carpet arrivals, guests transitioned into the hall, which had been transformed by McCalls Catering and Events into a sleek and classic space with a gorgeous black and white palette.

Special guests enjoyed a pre concert VIP party in the Wattis Room and Loge Lobby, while all attendees were treated to sparkling wine, scrumptious bites and musical entertainment by DJ Lady Fingaz in the Davies Symphony Hall lobbies before the concert.

On Thursday, August 8, 2024, the iconic Westin St. Francis Hotel hosted a night of unparalleled elegance and sophistication, blending luxury, fashion, and the vibrant culture of Union Square. A celebration at the hotel, in collaboration with the Union Square Alliance and LUXClub Magazine, marked the unveiling of its newly reappointed Luxury Suites. The gathering was also a toast to the July issue of LUXClub Magazine, featuring San Francisco’s Teresa Rodriguez on the cover, Editorial Director of Liberté Press and an 18-page spread of Colleen Quen’s couture creations including the Dahlia Gown designed exclusively for Union Square in Bloom 2024.
